Ouch! If i was a taswegian..

    Lucky everyone knows you're kidding

So you going to help me with the s13 front end/sr20det conversion or what? I feel bad copying George, and not 100% on the idea (first I gotta ask the engineer if he is happier with that or a stock 1UZ), and also gotta find decent priced halfcut with suspension still in place... but it's not a silly idea in my opinion. And I think George would be proud!

    Nice thead...
I have been looking at doing this to a RA40, coupe.. useing a MA61 rear half chassis,
So far the chassis rails are the same spaceing, eg. '40's rear bar will fit the '61, & vice verser..
wheel tubs are wider on the MA61/RA65, so will fit up inside the RA40's tub's
As the RA28/23 have the same front track & suspension, the 61's rear may fit.
Q: Is the outer part of the '28's rear gaurdes the same width as the 40's..
i measured the out side edge of both the '65 & '40. & yes they are the same width car..
i will be cutting the rear half chassis out of the '61, soon & doing more measurements..
    Project: '82, GA61 XX

Should take the time now to let everyone know that I was joking and I visit Tassie at least once a year... I would also be proud to live there again, and plan on it! (I lived in Launceston for 6 mnths)

    Nah, no cradle as yet.

Trying to avoid buying big parts like cradles and halfcuts until I actually have somewhere to put them! And no, straight into the car isn't an option

I'm struggling to find all the info, but a '99 WRX has a rear track of 1460mm so the actual width of the setup would be less...
You have it backwards, the track is less than the diff width. So with track of 1460mm and factory wheel offsets of +45-50 ish you have a disc to disc width of 1550mm plus. Thats like Falcon or Commodore width. Will be WAY to wide for an RA28 and probably a bitch/expensive to narrow as well.

George, the sylvias run an offset that is very similar to most fwd cars, which means width from end of axle to end of axle can be greater than a TA22 for instance but have the same track as a TA22.
