Well there are plenty of vl commodores getting around on stock diffs and making retarded power and 10 second passes... and quciker even, i think the matouk racing cars have vl turbo diffs and are both going 8-9seconds??? not 100% though...

So the commodore diff is a indestructible diff... Well, atleast very f*cken tough...

I recently acquired a Lockright centre for my Volvo diff. I asked for a cheaper postage option and it only worked out to be $45 and took about 3 weeks. I got it when the exchange rate was heaps better, but even now, works out cheap compared to buying locally.
Here is the guy selling them on ebay. If you want one, just ask him to use a cheaper postage method and he'll help you out.

    hey mate

i had the whole diff done - including studs for $500. the diff was bare and i had the mounts cut off the celica diff ready to go.

the next time i did studs i think it was $120 but cant remember if that was per side or in total..... that was welded, machind and re-studded.

yeah mate, up here in newy - promac engineering.

I have had a few things done there - door hinges re-pinned etc and have been good.
problem is there is a few tools there and a good guy. i go straight to chris when i go.
Dunno what they charge now - that was a cash price a couple years ago, but have always found their pricing good for machining/welding jobs i couldn't do.

    Hi all

I've been offered a P1216409 - 3.73 - 1041K axle from a Volvo 960 - with an LSD. I think this is too new to fit though. I've read this thread numerous times and people only mention the 1031 and 1030 axle. Would the Volvo 960 axle fit, and what issues would I have above fitting the axle from the 240/740?

    Cheers in advance

    Stephen

Thanks for that. Other than the width though, what other barriers exist to fitting these? And is the width difference big enough that the front axle would need to be pushed out further also?

Mate if the diff has been offered to you for free then take it even if it is just for the LSD as you should be able to use it in a 240 diff.

Tell him he's dreaming and go and find yourself a 240 diff as it will be the better length.

If you are looking at shortening the 1410mm volvo diff you can use the longer axles from the 1510mm 740/940 diff as these work out great as they can be resplined so that you can shorten the diff from 0 - whatever mm.
