It's not the best way, but yea you can watch the butterly move just by revving it to about 4500RPM in N. I did it to test when I thought the ACIS was the problem on my car...which wound up being O2 sensors...

Ok well I checked it out last night and the ACIS is working fine. I also had my graph reprinted with Torque and its almost dead flat.

So anyone got a Toyota issued Dyno graph ?? Ie should it be a flatish torque curve or one with a dip ? The ideal is obviously one thats flat ??

Also when I get the graph posted up keep inmind I run massive rear tyres which impacts the torque reading and that its basically a stock Auto 2ZJ-GE from a JZZ30. Only mod is the 1JZ-GE exhaust manifold with 2.5" exhaust, and a K&N insert in the factory airbox.

im not a believer in that mid range drop being related to the ACIS function at all. 7m does it also. and in my experience the dead spot is still present whether ACIS is disabled or not

    IMHO its intake reversion

aftermarket ecu's can go a long way to helping to 'tune out' that reversion, as does completly changing the intake manifold/runners etc

    luck?

to those with a 'dead spot' i suggest disconnecting the vaccuum line to the ACIS actuator (10second job) go for a drive and see if it feels any different...

Because the bottom graph is a 2JZ GE, look at the runners and the peak PS figure.

Also an interesting torque reading. (i assume the Ps/h is torque)

Last night, I drove a 1997 JZA80 SZ with 60,000 on the clock. That thing had NO dead spot. Power came on and kept comming. It was totaly bog stock. Even though it had a stock muffled exhaust, it sounded much better than the noisy one that I noticed the dead spot on.

I still think it has something to do with mods messing with the ACIS system.

Yeah, i had thought the same at first, then when i looked at it again it was the torque curve and now its just gone.

    What about different cam profiles?

Soarer, crown and supra being slightly different?

But yeah i could feel the drop off before it really went in the ol soop.
