Making them all stickies would fill up most of the first page and that too would annoy people.

Unhappy Re: Seperate section for "dedicated" threads?

Coming from a noobs point of veiw.

The 162 thread had been a great resource to me, for N00b questions ect that would have just got flamed anywhere else, And not just questions but moral support when issues arise, as they always do with cars

They should NOT ! be deleted, but i don’t see why there would be any problem in moving them to a sub section.

IMO i have already found a great deal of info from these threads and they are the main reason i joined up to toymods

    well, River made the suggestion.

they shouldn't be deleted, no. what is being suggested is that the sticky's be removed and people who wanna chase up the threads will have to fish through the first or second page or something, but with the number of people posting on dedicated threads (like the AW11 and the 162 threads), it's unlikely that they'll disappear off the first page.

The other option is a less admin-favourable one, where the sub-forum is created, and also moderated upon as well. Choose your poison, I guess it doesn't really affect me either way.

1 vote for the subforum, maybe just for high traffic threads which normall users cant create threads, but can post in, then threads can be moved in as required

    Hi,

I'm happy for the sub-forum solution. This way these threads are kept and can still be contributed too, and it removes them from the front page.

I can't see those people who are into dedicated threads getting too upset going to s sub-forum to get/post information. It is but one mouse click.

If there's an issue with modding these forums, I'm happy to help - and I know Placenta loves my modding prowess

I think I'd stick my hand up for modding too, I'm already an Admin on other forums as well.

can i be admin i wont ban anyone i swear?

river i think you do a good job as an admin, sure i have different ideas sometimes but at least its obvious that you are taking the job seriously and are interested in improving the toymods forums (with new idea like the 24 hour thing even though you would prolly love to just ban those threads) , not like other admins who just like clicking the lock button and using the admin title for something else.

I think a subforum would be great.

I still think it should go something like

    Dedicated threads subforums>
    AW11>
    AW11 Tech talk
    AW11 Chit chat

You wouldnt need to have seperate threads under tech talk or chit chat, just one big chit chat thread and one big tech talk thread

I think if it stays as one big thread like it is now there could be issues with moderation...I.E what a moderator thinks doesnt belong in there a 'member' of that thread might think it does resulting in an argument. If its broken into chit chat and tech talk its easy to define what does and does not belong in there.

Maybe it would be best to find 1 or 2 people from each dedicated thread willing to moderate it....I dont think we could expect a classic Celica owner to understand us AW11 folks who like our engine in the wrong (right) place

The only problem I can think of right now is that setting the dedicated threads up like I have mentioned will mean losing all the info we already have in there...

i dont think the dedicated threads need modertaion at all.

they work very well with the regular subscribers of that thread and all seem to stay on topic.

i am allways impressed with how the dedicated threads are run, with good information and usually friendly posts and a friendly atmosphere.

the beauty of dedicated threads is that they dont need to be started, but will thrive on their own with enough interest, they dont need encoragement to be kept alive, or 'encouragement' to be locked as they will die out of their own accord if the toymods cummunity isnt interested.

they just need to be moved!

    Hi,

I agree with PJ. The subscribers to the dedicated threads really administer themselves. Any wayward posts or dribble are usually sorted very quickly without requiring the heavy hand of a moderator.

The chit chat is the tech talk and besides with how quick everyone posts on toymods it would take me even longer to keep catching up on 2 threads.

Even if they are in a subforum, getting an email notification quickly opens up the dedicated thread and i can read the rest of whats happening.
