wtf i have no idea what happend on the double post it didnt show up the first time i typed it in.
I tred the rings today and didnt fit, but I think they gave me the wrong box becuase they are totaly wrong. Il hit them up monday and see what the go is.
They also said not to use the ACL race series bearings as they are 4 times more likley to bind on the crank and spin a bearing.
They said to use aluglide from ACL or king bearings. They use the aluminium ones from king in all there motors.
2 sets of king bearings for 3sgte (1ggte mains) would be about $100 which is way cheaper then repco trade price.

I work for Veale's and we're a supplier of ACL and they don't do gaskets for 1g's, already checked as im in the process of rebuilding mine. Couldn't find any steel head gaskets with any of my supliers. I went with genuine toyota as iv'e been told the toyota head gasket is good for about 16psi.
These are genuine toyota gasket part numbers given to me by Toyota for my GZ20 1ggte
Head gasket T1121388341
Exh manifold T1717388340
Int gaskets T1717788302 between head and butterflies
T1717988341 between butterflies and plenum
Exh manifold T1717888340
to turbo's
Rocker cover T1121388341
Im only rebuilding my head so I dont have a full kit number or anything from the head down.
Genuine toyota water pump T1610079065
Distributor o-ring LD8201
Distributor cap 19101-88340
Head bolts 90110-10003
I got all this with timing cover gaskets, timing tensioner and idler pulley (cant find part numbers right now) for around $750 trade. Not sure about retail.
Hope this can be of some help.![]()

Moggie,
Have you found out what was wrong with the rings?
also you still have this posted under "Toyota's Interchangable Oddities.... (TIO#)"

Listing from Hastings 1G fitted with 2 * 1.5mm comp & 1 * 4mm oil but 2M fitted with 2 * 2mm comp & 1 * 4mm oil
The only match is the 4KE, where as the 4KC is different again

Well, by my measurements the gen 3 pistons I have are 1.5 top ring, 2mm mid ring and 4mm oil ring. Holding in my hand what is hopefully a matching set of rings, if they fit I'll post part numbers. Next question: does gen 3 crank fit into gen2 block... And if so, what bearings suit the gen3 big end?
