Hey guys probably going to start looking at getting an ecu for my 1uz pretty soon, but i need some advice from people who have used aftermarket ecu's on 1uz's before.
I was hoping to get something plug n play for the soarer model 1uz.
I need it to run a supercharged 1uz possibly up to around 20psi or so.
Is there anything out there thats plug and play, and that will also handle 20psi or so.
My other option is to run stock ecu with a piggy back system, which may be good too, apparently 7-8ish psi is achievable on stock ecu so maybe some kind of piggy back (emanage) or something might be able to take over above the stock ecu limits.
Any1 done this themselves with or without hassles etc???
Cheers

free plug:
adaptronic has now done 2 1UZs. one of which is supercharged.
the ecu is very affordable and is a quality unit. developed in australia!

hello
No plug and plug available.
Do not piggyback if you plan to run any serious boost, the motor WILL go bang.
Extra money spent now on the ecu will be money AND time saved later on new motors.
Geeze that adaptronic looks like it could be a goer, very reasonably priced and seems to do the job, will investigate further.
Andrew...are you using microtech? and are you happy with it? Would that be suitable for boosted applications aswell?
Matty
Matty, the guys from lextreme just had a group buy on for adaptronic ECUs at a very good price. I'll ask the organiser if he can source any more if you like.
Jasper
The microtech has the benefit of being well proven and having a very good track record for the last couple of years, but they are being left behind features wise by the competition.
Adaptronic is the complete opposite. Has all the features of the top models, but doesn't have the support that the rest do. (Adaptronic themselves are great, but outside of that there is a small amount of support compared to other brands)

what gbox are you running
if auto then u need an ecu to control it
if manual then you can do what u want
il be running an auto, hopefully the 1jz auto box.
Adaptronic seems to use factory ecu as a base, but makes it all completely adjustable, well from what i can gather so far anyways.
JASPER if you could find out how much they paid and if it was possible to still get one, that would be an awesome help.
Andrew, yeah microtech seems to lack greatly in auxilliary outputs.
Cheers
Matty
ok you wil need an ecu to do the auto unless you plan
to just change it manually using a shit box
i helped out briefly fitting a adaptronic to a SR20 auto.
the stock ECU was left in there, hooked up and all the auto-unrelated sensor wires were connected to the adaptronic.
the others were 'shared' bewteen the stock and aftermarket ECU like TPS etc.
though i cant remember if toyota have the auto CU built into the engine ECU
hello
only crown 1uz has seperate auto ecu
Adaptronic is completely stand alone.
If its used in conjunction with the stock ecu its to keep something stock there (like the auto)
is that what your product quality is?Originally Posted by sideshow

Everything you need to change gears is right here:

on the website they say they are using it in conjuction with the standard ecu, but there reason for doing it that way was to keep all the digital dash working.Originally Posted by CrUZida
i dont have that to worry about, however would use it to keep the auto working instead.
They use the auxillairy outputs to fool the standard ecu with air flow outputs etc to keep it happy.
Looking like a very feasable option at this stage.

I'd piss the factory ecu off completely.
If you are getting the auto full built to handle 1000Nm of torque (coz a 1UZ with 20PSI will put this out), then you'll be wanting to manually shift the auto with an MV autobox controller anyway.
Unless of course you are doing all this to a UZZ30 Soarer, and not an engine swap.
I never know what you are planning.
I run an Autronic with great success, can be wired in parallel with the stock ECU if needs be.
Adaptronic is the new golden child for UZs though and at the price has to be worth a look.
Manualise the auto i say![]()
