You will need to bored the block out to suit 22-RE pistons, In terms of performance,
yes you get a gain but Cams or going efi would probably yeild similar gains for less trouble.

I think 22-RE pistons are 92.5 bringing the capacity out to 2150cc.

    yessss....
i have got a set of 88210 cams i believe they are a longer duration than the others? the only reason i am looking at going for a 2.2L is because i have to rebore and pistons that are 9.7:1 compression and .5mm over are worth $500 plus postage so i was think i might as well bore it to the 2.2L

brett i have followed that thread from the start but i will go over it again now
ps have u still got those 18r extractors as i got my twin carbs today and i want to fit them woot woot

yes, still got the extractors but i just dont have time to ring/organise freighting them right now! so much shit on right now

210 cams are the best, performance wise out of all the RG varients.

i think for memory some machining of the 22RE crank is required

you also might want to consider how this will change the engine. 18RG's only exist as powerful engines because they can rev pretty high...until about 4000rpm, they go practically nowhere. so take away the revabilty (possibly what stroking will do) and its no longer a 18RG!

thats just what ive heard anyway......id bring this up in the 18rg tractor thread anyway get the 18rg wizzard's opinion

18RB is just a single cam 18R with twin carbs....i doubt there is any difference other than that

There'll be info on here and River will definitely know.
The difference between the 2T and 2TB isn't just carbs, the pistons also raise the compression.
This might be similiar with the 18RB etc...

I read somewhere that the 18R-B engine came with carbies of a similar type to the SU sidedraught. At least they operate similarly. Please correct me if I'm worng here.
I do know that they can be found in at least some RT-72 coronas.

I'm going through the 21R-C crank conversion (same as the 22R crank).

do you see any problems with how it will rev etc? i think the 21/22rs had long strokes....opposite to the RG

hey mate i dont no exactly where the carbys came from but they were in with a load of corona parts so u might be heading down the right track... done some research but nuthin to do with the 18RB showed up they are missing a linkage ont the accelerator so i will have to get one made up rather simple i spose

as for 18RG 2.2L advice from witzl
    DONT GO THERE TO EXPENSIVE

so thats it i will put some pictures of the carby's on my hilux thread in my rides for those intrested.

Just note that there is a difference between boring it out to 2.2l and stroking it out to 2.4l

The 2.2 (or 2150) is a rebore and correct pistons so if you are rebuilding the engine anyway it is not so bad. Mine ran 22-RE pistons however I planed to get custom forgies as the Cams had to be advanced or retarded to stop collisions

For the 2.4l the magical formula is 22-RE pistons, 22r/20r crank, 16r rods however these are rare as rocking horse p00. so mod work to the18r seems the way to go , but this is exxy.

    Cheers
