    ........................NEWS BREAK........................

Warning this will be a long post. but worth every word.

I was at the "Perth City Street Machine" club meeting tonight (was there with a mate who is a member), The guest speaker was a guy from the organizing committee for "Motorvation 07".
Boy did he have some things to say.
He started by saying that already they have 900 entries for the event. And late entries haven't closed yet.
They (the MV committee) are still deciding what is to be done. He discussed the options. One, only allow 650 entries in and choose, from the 900, the best 650, and return the monies to those that didn't make the cut. Two, open up the speedway grassed circle (yes in the middle of the dirt) and the speedway grassed seating area, (up top, where you watch from). He said that he really hopes the second option comes through, he has spoken to another club already and they wanted first pick on the grassed circle.
As for our position the best I could gather is that us "rice-burners" will be in the same area as last year pit lane 5 & 6. Since they have this numbers problem nothing has really happened yet with regards to planning.
Next year MAY start a new era in motorvation. It will most likely become a 3 day event. Entrants turn up on thursday night / friday morning and spectators allowed in at midday. The plan is to have a band on the friday night to attract more people. The three day event will see burnout comps only on friday and saturday night and sunday day.
There will be two dynos running in 07. As well as a revised and bigger super cruise. The route will change to the entire stretch of the drag strip, and the entire field will be split in two. Odds and evens. eg odds go at 11am for 1 hour, the 30 min break then evens go. a two lap restriction will apply.
More importantly there will be more "stop / go" girls. YAY. LOL.

I think that about covers the main points. I'll let you all read that and go further.

    T-SHIRTS / Kimono's .... hrrm, hurry.

    My fingers hurt.

900 cars I hope I they do choose the latter option of accepting everyone. I would suspect that, if not, they might cut cars to appease the lowest common denomintator. ie Ford & Holden.

Funny story - At Rally Australia there were these drunk bogans standing near me (OMGOMG ford won the v8 challenge !!!!1111oneone) "debating" whether Gronholms focus was FWD or 4WD.
RA40 Coupe - Even more Turbo beating ponies.

    Thanks Dean!
Finally one of your posts have some interest !

Lets hope they don't start cutting out entries. That would be a hard task.
Instead I think they should focus on growing and expanding to more a Summernats size crowd. thing is, Summernats has about 3 times the area to play with, so I can see where the organisers get stuck..

Lauren - Rob was meant to be organising shirts - but he's a bit pre-occupied at the moment with a bunky 1GGTE..
I think we decided to go with the Japanese kimono's this year anyway ??

Time to start finalising plans and themes as Motorvation is only a couple of months away now!

Cant believe how the time is flying by...

Motovation isnt even that far away if you think about it

Has there been any thoughts about description stands next to the cars, umm cant think what they're called, like a mods list, some pic's etc etc you see at some of the other clubs displays?

Craig .. everyone is responsible for their own stand / mods list display. Ross had the most impressive one last year.
whereas I just printed up the car details on a A3 sheet and then paid a couple of bucks to get it laminated at Office Works.. done - sweet as.

Latest news from Peter Pike (Events Co-Ordinator at Motorplex) is that they have now received over 1,100 entries for Motorvation 2007 !!

with room for only 650 cars.. there's definately a need to expand the show.
what they are going to do as yet is still unknown...

will let you all know if I hear anymore..

First in Best Drest the extra cars are probably imports as it is starting to become not just a Bogan Holden and Ford fest..plus they had revheads.. its the Japanese cars turn now

    pfft japanese cars turn...

some of the cars from the land of the rising sun are poor (LE RX7 for example). so are some of the aussie cars.

Its not about imports or aussie cars. Its about car builders, enthusaists and modifiers to come together.

yeah - I'll agree with Fish there..

I don't think Motorvation should be associated with Muscle cars or Jap performance.. its just about sweet rides in any make / age etc...

While my jap car will be on show - I still admire the workmanship and the many hours put into building a tough V8 ...
they spend just as many hours in the shed as we do.

Is it safe to assume that if they've sent out the confirmation letter to someone, that they're in? Surely they're not sending-out 1100 confirmation letters if they only have room for 650 cars?
