That weight of 130kg is way light. There was a supplier in NZ for copper head gaskets.

subtract 7.4#s for the engine stand mount still attached to the back of the engine, also no exhaust manifolds in this weight. 370# is still light for a V8... not as light as I had hoped....

I bought the engine I did... because it HAD a good distributor.... thank you to the USA shipping leg of the journey, the distributor is now shattered... although the lower section(oil pump drive) appears to be ok. Looks like this 5V will likely be running a crank fire type ignition.... which should allow a lower hood scoop/bulge

    Ready for dismantle...

If you have their contact info...???

I've sent both head gaskets, and both(in pieces) intake gaskets to Cometic Gasket - They say they can do custom gaskets - we shall see... the rubber around the valve covers, at the top of the spark plug tubes, and intake manifold transverse rubber gaskets are all still pliable, so they will be reused.

If you could get me a custom number for the gaskets I'd be willing to pay for it. For the head gaskets.

I'll be happy to pass along the gaskets if Cometic can make them.

As of now... I'll likely be using an anaerobic sealer for the timing case, and maybe the water pump too.

befoward.jp go to the parts section. This is the site I bought my engine from. What material are they making them from?

btw..... osmerjosmer.... what are your plans for the intake side?? I've been looking at the stock unit.... and possible ways/methods of modifying it.

    Why do I like it??

Toyota designed the plenum under the "fingers" of each intake runner - the only issues might be the small t/b.... and/or intake runner size

But the current t/b opening is larger... and conceivably the entire center could be overbore, or even removed for a large t/b, or possibly twin throttle bodies.

AND... for intake runner size, I could have the manifold sent to Extrude Hone to increase runner volume...

I wouldn't call it hard plans as of yet... but it is where I think I'm going.

MSD make a kit for LS engines you might be able to adapt to your Hemi. It an ignition box so you can run a carb and no distributor, coil over plug system. you would have to get the crank angle sensor and cam sensor from a LS on to your hemi and 8 igniton coils the rest is plug an play, but you can also program it with a laptop if you want. They are about $400

while waiting to hear back on the gaskets....

oiling for the cam lobes, and lifters. Interesting "windage tray" for the camshaft, and note the machined-in channels to direct oil @ the camshaft. Additionally note the structure - from the cam cap bolts holes are along the same rib as the head bolt holes.

Main studs.... full counter weighted crank, and "giraffe" aka diesel type connecting rods - similar rod type to the one used in 4U-GSE/FA20 engines

    more to come.....
