    Default JZZ30 1J into my GZ20 1GGTE I've started help !!!

I've started on my engine swap for my D1 Drifty GZ20 & I've only a week to complete it eeek. Have a nother round of the D1 on July 1st.

I'm going to need some help on this folks!!

What I'd like to know is how much of the JZZ30 wiring do I actually need to make the thing run? its a track car mostly so not too fussed about niceaties for the next week or so anyway. The JZ subframe/crossmember looks the same as the MK4 Supra subframe & I was assuming I can unbolt the entire thing suspension arms & all.

Most of the links I've found don't relate to this engine model swap is there much difference?

For things like the temp sensor and the oil light it can be easier to simply get the multimeter out and trace the wire!

    Cheers

You've obviously never seen a JZZ30 wiring loom!!! theres over 400 different connections on the dash loom alone, that connects into the engine left loom & the engine bay right loom, each with hundreds of connections on. Yes I'm only trying to trace about 10 wires but its the process of elimination thats causing the hassle.

Take a look at this to get an idea, this thing aint no points & condensor job!!!

just hook the enigine loom into your exsisting dash loom.

too much work unless you fabed in a complete jzz30 dash.

Ok I'll bite, for things like the temp sensor and the oil light it can be easier to simply get the multimeter out and trace the wire!

Yes, I am being helpful - disconnect the engine loom from the dash loom and use the MM. How do you think the rest of us do it?
Factory wiring diagrams help but are only a luxury - you still need to understand them and apply them to the loom, and you still need to check with a MM if the diagram is correct, so if you only need 3 wires, the MM can be quicker.

Ok guys I took your advice, I tried it your way AND IT WORKED !!, ok so I dug out the JZZ30 EFI control relay loom, much easier to find manually than trying find connections on the the loom diags.

So I'll eat my hat guys & cheers for the perserverance in convincing me.

Have sorted the following ready for connecting up:
    Alternator connections
Engine side efi relay engine-fusebox from JZ

    Next up
Oil, tacho, starter, power, ign switch etc

    Cheers guys
