my guess is it's a flasher relay or the source power is not constant. Run the temp wires, change the relay and retest.

Everyone's posts lead to some serious head scratching and trouble shooting that ultimately lead us to realising there was some resistance in the line somewhere.
We decided to clean up all the grounds of the pumps and ecu - and hey presto now we're having a celebratory drink because the car is running for the first time in over two years.
