    Default 1UZ manual conversion options

Hi guys, long time no post. I've been out of the scene for a number of years now and I find myself wanting to finish my Hilux 1UZ + auto project, but I'm starting to think switching to manual might be easier than trying to make the A340 do what I want. To that end, what are the best option(s) for running a W5x behind a 1UZ these days? I recall there used to be several options and some were pretty crap, but my old brain can't remember things like it used to.

I'm also open to other options like Holden 5-speeds or whatever, as long as it works and doesn't cost a fortune. There are no plans for forced induction so I don't need anything ridiculously strong.

So school me, what's the state of play in 2014? Thanks!

Sorry should have mentioned that, it's a 2WD Hilux RZN149. Currently has an A340 installed, but with no electronics.

Probably best to jump onto soarecentral and have a browse.

The two options I've seen in person are the W5# and the R154. I have also seen race stuff, but that is obviously not relevant. The other option people look at are T56 gearboxes (6 speed) from Commonwhores and the like.

T56 is a headfuck with wiring it to a stock ecu and dash and I wouldn't bother unless you needed it for the strength over a w box

There is also a bellhousing option for R151s and the like. They have a different input shaft length.

If you aren't chasing power W5# for sure.

You can also find bellhousing options for RB25DET gearboxes as well...

Always been a fan of the Niteparts bellhousing and flywheel from NZ. Have had a few and never had any problems at all. These are available for the W and R series transmissions.

I used a thailand ebay spec bellhousing and flywheel, the clutch that this flywheel uses is from a 2KDFTV and is a 10.5 inch clutch disc

    I've got a R150F box behind my 1UZ in my RN105R 4x4.

I used the stock 1UZ bellhousing and coupled that to the box via an adaptor plate

I dont believe there is a factory flywheel considering there is so many aftermarket options available, but happy to be proven wrong.

Bazooka could not see a listing for a 1uz bellhousing on the niteparts website, they do however list a flywheel.
the other flywheel ive heard can be used is the 3sgte, but it requires the pcd to be changed to actually bolt up
