Please dont neg rep me if this is a stupid question, but
Couldn't he just go find a wrecking RA65, take the whole rear subframe out and put it in his RA60.
Just an idea
1990 SW20 MR2 turbo Gen III 3S-GTE conversion, 3" exhaust = 264.9rwhp
1985 JZA61 2JZ-GTE + TO4Z = 442.1rwhp @ 18psi
1991 JZA70 Limited 2JZ-GTE vvti GTX30/76r
1994 GZX90 Mark II 1GZ-FE V12
1980 MA45 Undergoing Restoration
no. the mounting points for the rear subframe of an ra65 do not exist on an ra60. the biggest give away is the lack of rear shock towers on the ra60...
if u want IRS, get an ra65.
Yes, but it would require basically cutting out the underside of the whole rear secton in an RA65 and swapping it into an RA60. The subframes as stated will not bolt in.
An RA65 is a much better option, as much attached as I was to my RA60, I came to the realisation that it was better to just get a better platform to begin with.

hehe, yeah, just get a supra.... u can thank me later![]()
Frank,
This is something that confuses my tired brain quite a bit.... How in the hell do you get attached to an RA60?? They dont really have anything going for them that isnt better on an RA65, and with the idea of a G series diff, thats really overkill, and correct width F series diffs can be found for RA60s at cheaper cost than the G series, and less weight. F series wont break under a tickled 1GGTE.

First car. That's the only reason. I've got a 170rwkw+ XX sitting there to replace it, but i'll still be sad when the RA60 goes![]()

yea i was thinking about putting a g series diff in like you said there are lsd's available so it would make it cheaper aswell how difficult is it to put one in though it wouldnt just be a bolt in job and im fairly limited with the cash
If your limited with cash, RA65 is the go, already got an IRS F series, so all you need is an LSD centre, which is cheaper than G series. G series would cost quite a bit (around $1500 to do properly with lsd and disk rear if you pay somebody to do it for you). IMHO, the RA65 with LSD centre and disc rear wouldnt cost more than that, and its already got the EFI fuel system setup. Plus if its got a 5 speed manual, theres your gearbox, just whack a correct bellhousing on. Would make the conversion so much simpler, and the headlights are better too.

yea i know what your saying but i already have a 5 speed and i can get a ra65 tank for $50 and cant you get the lsd centres for my diffOriginally Posted by o_man_ra23
Yes, and in 8 months time your T series diff will be mush and the LSD centre will probably be what dies. T series diffs and 200+hp motors dont mix. Theres more to the fuel system than just the tank. It took me a full day swapping over tank and fuel line when i did it. Then i had to wire it up. Also the battery location in the RA60 is wrong for a 1GGTE, so you would have to move it to where the battery is in the RA65, and your relay box will suffer VL commodore like sickness from the exhaust heat. Whereas if you had an RA65, battery is in the right spot, relays wont get hot, fuel lines are run, pump is wired up, etc etc. Its just such a better starting point for that conversion. You should be able to get one with no motor or box for $500 or so, then a centre for the diff will be under $300, rear disks are $150ish if not there from factory, the list of things that are better in the RA65 over the RA60 is virtually endless. Also last time i looked into a T series LSD they were about $400 and i could only find a kouiki style one which requires the 24spline axles which you need to pants from an AE86 jap spec (read not gonna happen, or going to be expensive). Logic just shouts that the RA65 is a better vehicle for the job, and also it will let you run around in your RA60 while you do the conversion.Originally Posted by RA60 KID
