    Fit perfectly after that.
I bought the green bush this week.. & green on top & black ring on lower part...

Is it like 15mm thick, or 8mm thick?

It's ment to sit up against the bottom of the pins..
If you ground it then will be no good..

    Have you fit it yet?
I've bought probably 4 or 5 of these in the past few years, and none of them have been like the one I just bought.

It does not sit up against the pins. I was unable to insert the shifter correctly with the bush unmodified, and even with the shifter forced down hard I was unable to select any gears.

Ground the bush thinner and now its perfect.
    Tight shifter with no slop.

Something wierd is going on here Scooby

But as I said, mine was all black (previous ones have been green), so maybe either they have replaced the green one with a new bush, or I was given the wrong part (can't find the paperwork that came with it to check part number, but I ordered the correct one)

I was told by toyota man at shop that was 2 diff' ones....

But the bush i fitted the other day is very diff' to the one in my XX.. as it is White Nylon & pins go through the upper 1/2 of it...

    cheers

The price of many Toyota parts comes down to the old "wholesale sales tax" pre GST.. this old tax was added every year.....
So a part that cost $15.oo in '80 has tax added every year till date sold.. eg. same part sold '95 = $50.oo aprox...
With GST $15.oo + 10% = $16.5o This tax is added at time of sale..

    Forget getting them new.
The only way to get a decent set of these is via ebay. I got some from Canada (they don't have as much sun up there as we do!!).
