I had a look at my old pump & can see the drain port behind the seal & the 5mm drain to the sump. It could easily do with some porting especially the port behind the seal. When I Googled 2jz oil pump mod , one said to drill the drain hole 5.5mm or 6mm. What did you drill you're one too & can the oil pump be removed without removing the sump??

I just googled the fault today & the stuff I found seemed to be faulty oil pump relief valve housings with Some New pumps but that was some years ago ( had hairline cracks in the housings ) & the oil pump drain hole seemed only really relevant with old Worn oil pumps building up pressure behind the seal, but you said your pump was New so I wouldn't think the Drain to be a big issue in your case otherwise all pumps Replaced should leak ? unless the drain was modded which I can't see many people doing ....

My motor had a new pump fitted due to a 'reoccuring' leak, new pump and seal fixed it.
Has been fine for like 100k but on Wednesday it started pouring out. Was the first time at the drags after putting a single on, was fucking hot (40c ambient outside) and I was winding it out hard so if it was going to go, would of been then.

Car is on the front lawn fucked, again.

I've got a new gates racing belt, toyota balancer in the mail but I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and get a new oil pump? Powerhouse racing in the US sell a ported/cleaned/drilled version for $300 which sounds alright. Not overly keen pulling half the car apart before drilling holes in my oil pump, from what I can tell you have to be careful about it.

This all started when I put a gtx35r on & tuned it with E85... As soon as I picked it up & was driving it home on the M5 I noticed the leak. When I got it home I pulled the belt & covers off & found it pissing out past the seal. I put a new seal in it & A couple of weeks later I was getting it ready for toyfest & it spun the bigends a week before toyfest. I ended up building the engine with CP pistons,BC H beam rods ACL RACE series bears on mains & rods ARP STUDS & bolts on every thing, full port & polish head with BC 272 cams springs & retainers. I finished putting in the engine 1 week again before toyfest 2013 & a coil shit itself & I could get a new set of supa sparks till Jan 8. I put them in & started trying to run the engine in but kept getting overheating issues. I put in a new hi flow thermostat & was bleeding it & that's when it started again ,just after 150kms of running in.

I read in one off those posts that it is a common issue with hi HP motors. Apparently the big 2j builders say it's a must?

    Yeah think I will;
I'm lucky I was told it was leaking 30 seconds after it started. If I had done a pull merging onto the freeway the first thing I would of known about it would of been when the oil pressure gauge stopped working
I dont want to do it again, hence not just going to put a new seal in.

From what I can tell it only effects modified engines running high boost, seems really common.

I had a bad experience with a 2J GTE rebuild , the customer supplied his own gasket and seal sets . (Not OEM Toyota ,came as an aftermarket kit )
After approx 450 kms running it developed an oil leak from the crankseal , an OEM Toyota seal was fitted . Problem solved . Then at about 700kms the cam seals started to weep oil . Same again ,OEM seals problem gone .
On further inspection under a maginfiying glass ,I found the seal sizes were .5 mm larger than OEM on the shaft sizes. They were ok till they had some km,s put on them , then started to leak.
Might be worth checking the sizes and if yours are OEM

Until a couple of days ago I didn't realise the 2jzgte motors could have problems with the front crank seal, I googled as to wether the 1jzgte seems to have the same issues & nothing came up, I would have thought they possibly ran the same oil pump ?? & if it is a different pump I wonder what is changed as they don't seem to have the same issue ??

Then it's engines un-touched by owners that don't have a problem, thus making it an owner caused problem, like pressurized crankcase or seal in too far or blockage in it drain or ?????
'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!

I had a mz20 with 1jz, T04Z & 500hp ATWs before & didn't have 1 issue with it. I wanted more & found a perfect bodied MA71 with no engine. I put what I thought to be the holy grail of 6pack in it. I drove it with just the standard2j engine & computer for about 6 months without a issue. Once I started the mods without opening or touching anything internal, the leak started. So I didn't install the first seal incorrect & it still leaked.

From what I can tell when you spin the engine hard there is more oil there than the drain can handle and if the seal is not brand new you have a situation where the pressure can push it out.

Is it not flush from being poorly installed which if an Engine builder has fitted the seal it would be a pretty poor effort on behalf of the builder, or not flush from pressure behind trying to push the seal out ..

Not meaning to stir things up but it sounded like you fitted the seal in your earlier post ..
