Has it been setup to run the Toyota triggers and injectors for a 1JZ?
I assume it has a startup map supplied?
Just putting it out there.......
I have a 1jz cressida that I have bought a AEM s2 stand alone ECU for. It's a plug and play, modified, AEM box to suit 1jz-gte (jzz30) from Drift Motion in the USA. The car has been running on the stock ECU for about 18 months with no problems. I have spent countless hours double and triple checking all the wiring, sensors, and input data and trying to get the car to start let alone run on the AEM.
I have contacted Aaron from Drift motion and followed his advice and check list with no joy. I have sent the ECU back to AEM in the states to get tested with the report saying that there is no issues with the ECU.
So just seeing if there's any guys out there in the forum that have some/more experience with aftermarket ECU's and are willing to have a look and dont mind a challenge. I'm located in Melbourne by the way. PM me if you want to have a crack at it.
The car has recently had a single turbo conversion. It is still running fine on low boost with the stock ECU.
I am just looking to get the car to start and idle at this stage........I am not looking for a free tune!!!

Yes. It comes configured from drift motion to suit the 1jz. I have tried 2 maps from Aaron at drift motion and 2 other known good maps from other people. I've also tried a map from supra store in the USA.
All maps have " stat sync" which in AEM speak means the ECU is seeing all sensor inputs. But I have no switching at the coils and no injector pulse.
It runs fine on stock ECU
can u hook up a laptop and get live data from the aem
like make sure when cranking u are getting around 200 to 300 rpm
once u have rpm then check u have injector milliseconds
make sure the aem can do 6 coils
I don't know why u didn't buy something local like a haltech
ive done heaps into 1js and hardly have any problems
Totally unnecessary dumbass remark ^^^ right here
Does the AEM have any built-in test mechanism... like injector test or coil output test buttons when you have the laptop hooked up ?
Sensors are inputs whereas you are missing ECU outputs. And if the AEM is a true plug-in unit it should be seeing the same inputs on the same wires as the factory ECU. Have you cross referenced the pinouts between the two ECU's to make sure the AEM is getting the correct inputs, in particular the rpm signal while cranking ? As per useful part of previous post![]()
OK... looked at the AEM install instructions and see this...
Therefore if you are getting the Stat Sync while cranking, you should be good to go. How did you check if the injectors were firing ? What injector duration is programmed in the software ? How did you check for spark ?If the EMS is not firing the coils or injectors at all, open the Start tab and look for the ‘Stat Sync’d’ channel to turn ON when cranking. This indicates that the EMS has detected the expected cam and crank signals;
if Stat Sync’d does not turn on, monitor the Crank Tooth Period and T2PER channels which indicate the time between pulses on the Crank and T2 (Cam) signals. Both of these channels should respond when the engine is cranking, if either signal is not being detected or measuring an incorrect number of pulses per engine cycle the EMS will not fire the coils or injectors.

y is it unnecessary
there are afew ecus I wont go near where some guys on here like
I wont go into y but why not ask so good tuners and they will tell u why
if it was a haltech it would be running by now
aem sux my big hair balls
and coil and injector testing is normally for novices heheheh
The AEM is forsale. Something has come up more important than cars and I need the cash. Thanks for everyone's replies!!!
send jonedee a pm he wants to buy it I think hehehehe
