wont change gears when switched on

car only changes gears when it is switched off. when it is turned on it wont change or go from neutral to first.

Sounds like your clutch isn't disconnecting drive to the gearbox.

hmm, didn't think to add a bit more detail?

Does the clutch feel like it's working? Check clutch master reservoir for lack of fluid. Also check box for lack of fluid. If else, replace car.

1. maybe try putting your foot on the brake when changing to different gears.
2. check the brake lights as i have heard with some of the newer cars if the brake lights do not work you can not change the gears.

- Clutch fork broken or bent
- Pressure plate broken
- Hole in clutch line
- No Clutch fluid

obviously to fix this you fix whatever is broken.

Just lol. That advice is not even worth 5c.


Clutch plate may be stuck to flywheel. No fluid in clutch master. Clutch master fucked. Leak in clutch line. Fork broken. Snapped cable.

We don;t know what car it is, so how are we to help you?

Gavatron ... i was refering to auto's as in the first post there was not much info as to what the transmition was. You like everyone else, first thought of a mnual where, i thought of a new vehicle with an auto.

Realistically, you can't change gears with an auto with the car being off. So it makes sense (to me atleast) that it would be manual.

let me guess this right, the only posts you have made on toymods are asking for help with very minimal details initially, and then it turns out not being your car or even a toyota?

commodores run a clutch cable still so that rules out clutch fluid.

maybe try street commodores or just commodores?
