I would say your fuel lines are rusted inside. Your fuel filter should stop any rust from the tank getting into your injectors.
Hey guys, not sure if this is the right section to put it in but anyway.
Just wondering if you guys have had this experience
Recently bought an AE86, and the injectors seems to be blocked.
I pulled them out and put in a new set, then it was fine.
and after driving it for another 50kms, it was stucked again.
pulled them out again, dried it out and rust came out from the injectors.
changed the filter and started her up again with the clean injectors, was fine for a week and then its stuck again !!
so I guess it might be the tank thats rusted??
has anyone tried to fix a rusted fuel tank?
been doing my search on the net and most of them are motorbike tank that people fix.
can someone shed a light?
I would say your fuel lines are rusted inside. Your fuel filter should stop any rust from the tank getting into your injectors.
how do you fix that?
I would be cutting the old fuel filter apart to to see if it has much stuff in it & as has been mentioned could be the lines too which would need replacing to fix it permanently, how fine or chunky was the rust you found in the injectors, the chunkier it is the more chance its come from the fuel lines, the filter should work but can if pretty full let fine amounts come through ..
Fix/clean/replace/whatever, whatever is between the filter & the injectors.
Shake & backflush the filter to get an idea of what & quantity of its been trapping.
'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!
Odds on it's had water in the tank so pull the sender out and have a look inside then go from there

Tank is probably full of shit, suggest dropping it and get it cleaned.
Wont hurt to flush the fuel lines as best as possible, toss a few fuel filters at it too![]()
i did hear some where that mixing some thinner in with yr fuel and running it for 20-30 min can clean stuff like that and injectors.
best is to drive it at 2500 rpm-3000rpm.
But don't quote me on it.
as my memory is not that great.
my previous RA28, R.I.P is here.

i would start with removing the tank and inspect the inside for rust.
i remember many year ago my dad was cleaning out rust in motorbike fuel tanks with some sort of acid, about all i remember, could ask him what he remembers.
not sure how you would inspect the fuel lines.
possible blow kero or fuel through them and see if any thing comes out.
and defantly replace the filter.
