Default Bending back engine hoisting hook plate

Hey all, I am just cleaning up the last bits on my manual conversion and I noticed the engine hook that bolts to the head is bent, its pretty thick metal (3-4mm thick) and I think it may have happened when lifting the motor in place.

I tried bending it back in the vice but its far too thick.

I'd find a replacement but the hook is unique to the caldina st215

Any advice in bending it back in place? I know it will never be as strong but the hook at the moment is bent in the path of the intercooler/intake pipe. I need to bend it to the right.

Try again, I bent a bit of 100x100x5 plate in my shitty vice, took a bunch of solid hits with a lump hammer but it bent

Other option is to find a large bar that fits over the top, and bend it that way.. Less effort than hammering. Big arsed plumbers wrench also an option, though likely to mark it

Or if you have the engine in place then just remove it if its not integral to any other mounts for the engine/ancillarys.

If you need to use it again, put it in a vice and put some heat into it before going to town with a hammer on it.

    Thanks for all the suggestions

There are 2 plates that bolt onto the hoist bracket on the gen 4 caldina so I may need to make up a small bracket out of some alloy to hold these in place.

I'd probably remove it, if its not too much hassle. Had to remove one from my 3SGTE after fitting a new fuel rail. Otherwise a bigger hammer solves most issues.
