    Default 1jz Belt

    Hey Everyone

Just trying to find some information so I can finish my car. What im after is a replacement serpintine serpintine 6V belt for my 1jz motor. Only problem is im not running the A/C compressor anymore so obviously its going to be a shorter belt.

My mate purchased a belt for this such problem a while ago and doesnt remember the product code for it and he unfortunately sold the car so we cant check the belt itself. It was a stock belt for another car that fitted up correctly.

So if anyone could help me out, that would be great.

    Thanks

    SImon

easiest way is to get some string and go around the pulleys, measure it with a tape measure and go to local store. That is how I got mine as I have no a/c, p/s, tensioner and alternator is moved to other side.

I think stock is a 6PK1980 or 6PK1984. I want to remove my AC compressor, and I'd love to know the required new belt length. I think I read somewhere that it was a 6PK1900.

Use string or a cut belt to measure then go to supercheap and buy a few around that length, trial and error, and then return the ones you dont need back to supercheap.

I've done this once on a 1JZ, can't remember what belt I used, but as said, use some string. Anytime I've ever been looking for a belt for an engine parts stores don't know, I use string and have never had a problem yet.

What belt did it end up being? I just bought a 6PK1900 for when I remove my AC next weekend. If it is the wrong one then I'll have to take it back.

6PK1000 rings a very very loud bell. Crank pulley, water pump, alternator, and tensioner.

From what i understand the 1900 is the belt length in mm ,so your belt mabe too long.

    I could be wrong thiough

Chuck: you mean getting rid of a/c and p/s then. If so, that is what I have and I got rid of the centre tensioner also and the alternator is mounted like normal on a sliding bracket on the bottom passenger side of engine. So it only has to go around h. balance, water pump and alternator. Very simple

Well I currently have a 6PK1980 with AC compressor fitted. And its approx 8cm shorter without having to go around the compressor (as measured by a piece of string lol), so 6PK1900 should be correct?

Hmm ignore my previous post. I dont know what i was thinking

For some reason i thought the belt length was 1880 and you went to the 1900 - --- 20mm longer.

    Not the 80.mm shorter.

I got to stop posting when so tired !

I just liked the idea of never ever having to adjust the belt tenion, so left the original in position. Worked a treat, particulary in the '23.

For the information of others, ribbed belts are identified by the number of ribs,
ie.6PK= 6 ribs, and the number 1200, or whatever, refers to the circumference of the belt in mm.

    cheers Chuck.
