Default Toymods Brains Trust: what the hell is going on with my box? (A341LE)

I'm hoping someone here is knowledgeable on this subject, so here it goes..

About 12 months ago I put a 1JZ from a JZX90 into a MX83 (as you do) with a A341LE behind it, and from that moment I was having problems with the box not changing out of first until being warm, even then you had to lift off to get it to change out of first.
I put up with it for a while, then obtained a second valve body and sent it to MV Automatics for a shift kit. It came back, I put the shift kit in and it was hunting second (bunny hopping) as soon as you touched the throttle at any reasonable amount. So drove it home anyway and sourced another (known working) box. Took it back to the trans place and they put that in and swapped the shift kit over. While testing it they found it was holding first and second, so they removed the solenoid plug. Doing this meant you could drive it with first, second and third manually. I figured there was a VERY SLIM chance the bypassed NSW/STA wiring would be partly to blame, so I fixed that, cleaned up the wiring at the same time and tested it out with the solenoid plug back in. No dice - it was hunting gears again.
I unplugged the solenoid plug again and drove it to ToyotaFest manually on Sunday, but since then I've been trying to rack my brain as to what the problem is. The common denominators here are the shift kit and the wiring, but I also was thinking to myself it could be something to do with the line pressure cable being improperly adjusted. Would anyone else agree with me here, or would you think something else?
I've had someone look over my wiring and confirm it all appears correct, so I'm fairly confident it's not that.

    Ideas guys?

    Thanks,
    Ben.

Thanks to whoever it was that removed this thread for seemingly no reason.
Just bumping this back to the top now so I can actually get an answer.

    How is your TPS?

Line pressure cable wouldn't affect it, think its a ghetto mod to have it constantly at 100%

    TPS is fine. Recently calibrated.

Bumping again, as thread was removed again.

Also worth noting, I haven't touched any of the wiring related to the solenoids, as the conversion was done with a motor/box package.

if its done it from start u have probably wired something wrong

get the 2 solenoid wires and hook up a test light to each

then check what they r doing while u drive it

u can also hook up switches to the solenoids and bypass the ecu so u can manually trigger
the solenoids to see if u can get it to change gears properly
    its not hard to do

maybe u hooked up the mx83 cruise wire to wrong spot
did u mod the back of the gbox to suit the mx83 tailshaft
is the rear speed sesnor hooked up ok

u really need to remove gthe ecu control of gthe auto
manually control it then u can blame the ecu or the gbox

did the package come out of a front cut

did the package come in seperate parts from a shop
this means u might have wrong bits like mnissmatch auto to engine and ecu
u should be able to get live data from ecu if u wired in the diag plug from under the dash

I didn't touch anything related to the box when I did the conversion because there was no need. The box and motor came as a package. I've had 3 ECUs on it. First one was original one, second one was a Mines one when the caps went on the first one, and 3rd one is the TOMs one I have now.

As I posted, I removed the solenoid plug from the box so I can shift the gears manually. They all work except OD which is normal given there's no solenoid plug connected.

I did use the 7M's extension housing on the 1J's box, and shaft is MX83 factory item. Speed sender works and has done the whole time as it goes into the ECU then comes out again on another pin into the cluster - speedo has worked since day dot.

Cruise all works, so I don't think any of that has been wired wrong.

So going by all this it probably is wiring related, just where? The wires on the ECU to the solenoids are untouched.
Have you got a link on how to hook up the solenoid switches? I'd be keen to give that a go.

    Cheers.

do u know if the trans oil temp sensor is working
when they changed the rear ext housing did they keep the 1j speed sensor reluctor or did they fit the cressida

some guys change the whole lot so the cressida abs works
but then u stuff up the signa to the ecu
u might have conflicting speed signals
    there are 2 signals

one is 2 wire sensor on back 4 pulse per rev of output shaft
other is sensor for dash this is 4 pulse per rev of sensor that spins the dash
    then returns back to ecu

when u unplug the solenoid plug u get 1st 2nd and od
    or 1st 3rd and od
cant remember which way right now

just find s1 and s2 wires and hook switches to them
and turn s1 switch on for 1st
    s1 and s2 switch for 2nd
    s2 switch on for 3rd

if this works on then its yr wiring or ecu or somehting electrical
maybe there is some other signal that is not right in the ecu that can cause this

if it wont change out of 1st its usually speed signal related

i know the trans temp sensor mainly stops overdrive being selected due to cold temps

id be getting live data from ecu to atleast give u some help
u should have manually control the box using s1 and s2 before u kept chaning the boxes
prob take 20 minutes and it will tell u if its electrical or mechanical

The box currently in there is a known working box.
I think from memory the speed sensor is the Cressida one, but being from a Series 2 it's electronic, so shouldn't make a difference.

My ABS ECU is unplugged because it was causing a totally different issue to begin with.

The speed sensor I have is 2 wire that goes to the ECU as SP2- and SP2+, then the ECU takes this signal and outputs it to the dash on a single wire of SP1.

For the switches, are they 12v or ground to the solenoids?

If it was trans temp sensor, the OD light on the dash would be flashing, correct?
