i though the racing 'rollas ran a hollinger close-ratio box - like the earlier TRD-UK 'rolla's and Supra? Terry O'Bierne (spell?) or Art Racing would know for sure.

Or maybe they were T-50's with close-ratio gears?

That rings a bell - Don't quote me but I think they may well have run Quaiffe internals (straight-cut + dog-change) ..... not sure but I can find out as a guy that works for me part time used to build privateer AE-86's in the Group A days and ran Bathurst a number of times.

hmmm so we have what looks like 6 or more people
right, everyone post up which bellhousing they'd prefer to chase down, seems the only good options are one that billzilla can get in or a niteparts one.
i'm up for the niteparts one considering bill has posted in this thread but said nothing of the bellhousings he gets, makin me think he can't get them at the moment, but it sounds like bills one's are the pick of the bunch.
then once we figure out what sort we want we'll start from there, get onto the appropriate supplier once we have teh funds.

Anthony from Kaizen Garage is getting a few in if I remember correctly. Doesn't know when he's getting them in, as they're in a build que, but he does have a supplier. I told him I'd get one for sure when he does get them in, especially since my W58 arrived yesterday, just he doesn't even know when to expect them, lol.

all good, i'll try an ring kaizen garage tomorrow, see what they are getting, if a group buy can be organised, any hot bitches in the neighborhood. etc
rex, you had just as much luck as i did with making an adapter plate up huh??
mine worked....well worked is a strong word, it was there, thats all i'll say.

why does 'kicked in the junk' not sound anywhere near as bad as it should?

I still need input from someone regarding the angle/tilt either bellhousings mount the gearbox on. Anyone with a sprinter used one of these?
Once again I'll try to explain my problem: I want to mount the motor on the standard slight angle, with the motor tilting over toward the passenger side, just like in a sprinter (or any RWD 4A for that matter) but the dellows bellhousing I currently have won't really alow it. Up until now, the motor's been mounted perfectly straight, and when the gearbox is bolted up via the dellhousing the gearbox is slightly tilted over towards the passenger side already. So if the motor was tilted, the gearbox would be tilted over way too far, and the shifter would be poking through the passengers leg.
So I need a bellhousing that will accomodate the standard factory tilt of the motor, and position the gearbox & shifter so it is not on such a severe angle.

Can someone please help me out here, or tell me if you don't understand what the hell it is I'm trying to say?
If either of these bellhousings is going to suit my needs, I'm going to want one ASAP, and will be happy to try & arrange the group buy or help out in any way possible to speed up the group buy.

Stack me up with some info!

Actually the Rex adaptor is in and bolted up fine, but as of yet un-tested. The AE86 toobo shitbox is still in its pre-start loose ends stage.

its more of an 'options open' excercise. As with the Zilla 1.0 housing it may all bolt up fine but still be somewhat not perfect.

It may however turn out rad...

    On another note,

He believes mr1G means: Rex should be packed in a trailer along with some old paint cans and unloaded at a public waste disposal site???

Try asking on http://forums.toyspeed.org.nz/ as there are a number of people there using the Niteparts bellhousing, Brendan who makes them posts there as niteb and Karl Skewes has his AE70 drift car for sale there which uses the Niteparts bellhousing.
