    Default Loose cam cover?

Might sound like a dumb queston, but does having a loose cam cover(s) affect engine performance at all? Apart from the obvious leaks of oil, will actual engine smoothness, idle, performance etc be effected?

    TA.

Unless you have a huge leak ( and i mean HUGE!) it wont effect idle quality at all.

If the leak was big enough it would be like having the PCV disconected

when i replaced the rocker cover gaskets on a 7m-ge cressida the other day they were leaking real bad and the oil poured straight into the spark plug region, after the oil was in there for a long time the high tension leads became very brittle and lead no.1 actually broke and was causing the engine to missfire. thats just my 2 cents worth mate.

no dosnt affect oil pressure. only affects blowby pressure.

and no its fine but becareful you can get nasty oil fires with hot oil on extractors.
