    no worries, i figure i'll need help at some stage with a carbie petrol motor, which i know 5/8th of f**k all about compared to diesels, so hopfully someone will help me when i need it.

    $240 for a comp test, by a bloke 5 mins away who did the last one.
    trouble is he wants it cold.

    comp tested the thing, all cylinders had 470, expect number 5 with 370
    motor is out as of wednesday last week, been so busy and then away for the weekend, about to start pulling it down, but money is on ringland or cracked ring, will update when i know more

    cracked a piston
    so that explains it, compression pressure getting through the piston but crack small enough that oil wasnt coming back into the combustion chamber.
    Rest of the motor was really really healthy which i find very upsetting.
    Dont know if its just a weakness with the GQ pistons or detonation from high-ish boost or the LPG system.
    gotta do some investigating about building a tougher motor.

    Ouch, I would be putting a full set in there, or at least get the existing ones crack tested. Never seen a pootrol do that before with my eyes, but they are still relatively young as far as being a mechanic goes, I guess anything is possible.
