Sounds like the engineers over east think they are higher than god.
Well the kinda god that i believe in anyways... a toymoders god. Afterall thats what were all members of this forum for anyways isnt it?

I agree with old corollas, I reckon we (as a legitimate orgaisation) would be irresponsible to drive unsafe and un certified cars and even more so I agree that as group we should be promoting safety and perhaps even take it straight to the top before the law becomes so rediculous that dangerous mods will just become a part of Australian car culture.

I think toymods would be some such an organisation that would take the first step to (god forbid the red tape) co-operate with the governement in a bid to make the modificaions that are going to occur regardless of was written on a bit of paper by some 60yo dude. Surely we would have enough people to sway the government as a goup to get something started. I mean when the media starts saying "Rev heads ask government for help to make their cars safer, heads will start to turn".

Im currently in my second year of Mechanical Engineering and Law and have spoken to some of my lecturers (namley the head supervisor of our formula SAE team at the uni of adelaide) about this. They think its a great idea with the way statistics of road accidents are looking nowadays. Which I would assume about 80% of us fall into. That is, TURBO, MALE, UNDER 30, TWIN TURBO...

I'm willing to stick my neck out, I may even be able to get some lecturers in on it...

    Anyone else???

Big ambition... I would BE the 60 y.o. dude before anything at all changed - things happen veeeeeeeery slowly in government departments.

However, I'm always happy to be a part of anything that upsets people who do very little Now the big question is - just WHAT to do...

Well here's hoping but, i go to a college in adelaide called st mark's, now u should remember a guy called john bannon, he used to be the premier of SA until it went broke. well hes the master of the college and im trying my best to get him onside as well, dunno if it may help, but maybe he a 60yo dude can get other 60yo duds still in government in on the action, especially since it would look so good for the college if one of its students helped see this through...

I can verify 100% that this is in place in WA.

My engineer was telling me that most people need to comply with it 100% with all the cars he engineers now.
That means every checklist (those who have read it will know what I'm talking about) needs to be filled out and signed off by the engineer.

I was lucky I managed to get my pre-approval before they completely enforced the NCOP rules. So I don't need to use the checklisting.

According to my engineer, it was the WA guys that wrote the whole NCOP, which is probably why we've adopted it so quickly, and it would explain why you eastern states folk are so hesitant to accept it.

I did the same thing with my real estate agent... and forced a read receipt on it... they didnt even read it. Wouldnt expect the pollies to actually do something to benefit the public. If they wanted to make the australian car manufacturing industry better... they would open up the import scene... bit of healthy competition to force holden and ford into producing a higher quality vehicle.

Aside from this, anyone in QLD know what engineers look for when fitting a turbo to a stock motor under the current system??

Yes, but was it just a generic letter with your name put into places?? Thats what they will normally do, and they will word it so it seems like a personalised letter.

    Cheers, Owen
