I don't think it's explicitly true. I've not heard of it, and it's not part of our anti-hoon legislation

I think what Matt was refering to, was that the first person I heard getting busted by the hoon law, was some poor guy with an old commodore that wouldn't idle.
So he had to keep revving it while stationary, otherwise it would stall.

At least, thats the rumour I heard. 'Happened' only a few days after the hoon law was brought in.

yeah cruz I head a similar story...naturally things get mixed up by the chinese whispers of interstate rumours of course...

I think the law was intended to reduce the amount of street racing

First guy to get owned by the law was a 19yo Silvia owner doing about 144kph down the freeway. 2 hours after they came into effect.

Isnt a freeway meant to be speed limited to the capabilities of the motor vehicle, the driver, and the traffic conditions?? Once again the discretion of the coppa at hand is taken into account... or am i just dreaming about this cause in qld we dont have any... especially in north qld where we got our first motorway this year

Just to Clarify, There are open speed limits from about 45 mins out of darwin, to all surrounding borders. Not some parts, most of it, apart from when you pass through a town but theres not many. And i seriously suggest to anyone that hasnt gone up to darwin, do it, the drive up there is worth it just for that one reason!!
