As for that SA rulings, according to Regency Park that is still current, but they passed my housemates new car from Vic anyway. It has full 35% tints all around. (i.e. rest of aus legal).

Woohoo! I hope i'm not reading this wrong, but it sure seems to favour my corolla panelvan!
"Table LA1 [maximum engine capacities relative to vehicle weight] does not apply to commercial or four wheel drive type vehicles such as commercial vans, light trucks, small buses, etc, for which there are no set limits"
My corolla is registered as a commercial van :-)
I think you will find that having commercial rego doesnt make your car a commercial vehicle. Generally the guidelines are, if theres a passenger style model of your car then its not considered a true commercial vehicle. In other words, your corolla is just another variation on the sedans etc in the corolla range. If it was a Transit van, then it would be classified commercial as per the above.Originally Posted by 1JZ-Rolla

however, if it is expressly prohibited, your are fuxored...
i noticed they have changed wording about NOS to say you CANNOT even have it installed on the car, whereas before it couldn't be connected up and operational, but could be in the car.... inneresting...

You guys have it all wrong. You have all missed the major point. All modifications MUST comply with ADR's.
For any import engine to comply it must be tested against Australian regulations. This test costs $3000. JDM emissions are not the same as ADR's. Using import engines with JDM looms and ecu's is NOT a pass for ADR's .
Even fitting a turbo or supercharger affects ADR's. To be allowed you will have to prove that the mod has not affected emissions. It will have to be tested ($3000)

jsut reading through NCOP3 section 2.7 regarding exhaust systems
how confusing is that. seeing as the "left" side of a car is what you interpret it to be, ie if your standing behind the car the "left" is the passanger side. but if your looking at it front on then the "left" side is the drivers.Vehicles manufactured after June 1988 must not have the exhaust exiting to the left of the vehicle.
what do you think they mean?
On another note can anyone confirm how much an emmisions tests costs in NSW? ive heard its a pain to get one done as apparently they only do them about once a month and booking are usually a few months in advance.. can anyone confirm this?
We all know this.Originally Posted by andrewvibert

If the govt wants out cars emission compliant, then the test should be free (or relatively cheap, ie, $25).
No one, and I pretty much mean NO ONE is going to fork out $3000 just to do the test.

The Drivers side is the RIGHT SIDE.
As for the exhaust, it is not allowed to direct gasses to the left, ie, to the passengers foot path.
So every dorifto car with a sideways exhaust is technically illegal.

Doesnt that also mean that all these SS commodores, and Soarers which have duel exhausts are also illegal?
No, because those exhausts are not pointing to the left, they are pointing straight back.

well... many many cars ae currently not complying with ADR due to their mods (for emissions) and yet ppl still pass them.. it can only be a good thing i suppose, bring a bit of green back into the modding scene..
or you change to injected LPG
but surely they must realise that if they want people to comply, they MUST make the tests cheaper, otherwise it is just not an option for most people... or are we going to go california style with CARB approved mods (like turbozet)
