Default 1ggte into corona engineering querie

anyone know of any engineers preferably round the hills area?
seriously considering a 1ggte swap in my rt104 i know its been done just want to know if its legal still.
i asked a guy at work who builds rotories if he knew anyone and he rekons itll be very hard to pass but he isnt an engineer so i prefer to ask somebody who knows.

Have a quick squiz at the NCOP thread. AFAIK all states/territories pay some attention to this as a standard but it's not compulsory.

    http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tec...op-thread.html

I'm not sure what the weight of an rt104 is but off the top of my head it wouldn't be too much different than my TA23. 1ggte would be legal in all jurisdictions but you'd need to satisfy your engineer and that is a grey area.

Apart from the issues of getting the engine in and running you may come across a request to upgrade brakes/suspension/steering/your undies.

I've also been told to fix some rust in a door.

I can't recall the thread but you can do a search. A couple of people have posted about engineers in sydney. Otherwise google and yellow pages worked for me.

brake upgrade is planned once i find rims that'll clear the hilux calipers. i did find a guide to fitting a 1g in a celica looks easy enough
the car itself weighs around a tonne give or take a few kg's and the motor puts out roughly 210hp going off what info i can find so based on the tables in the ncop thread and the latest bulletin i should be able to put a 2.7 so i should be ok there just havent had time during the day to make the calls in case i needed to consult one before i do anything ill do a search and see if i can find these engineers of which you speak.

    thanks mate appreciate the help

Not sure where you are in Sydney but try yellow pages for "automotive engineers". Some of the listings will be for "automotive repairs" but anyone who advertises as an "automotive engineer" should be able to certify the vehicle for you.

Call around a few people and be prepared to travel a bit. You'll get there.

i tested the hilux calipers a few weeks ago the wheels wont bolt on as theyre too far out for the wheel but otherwise rotationally theyre all good

Do keep us informed. I'm sure there are more than a few folk who are interested in finding a good engineer.

Nice of you to take one for the team.

spoke to john of akz engineering went over what i was doing he said everything should be fine as i wont be cutting anything or making any structural changes and to go right on ahead. didnt think there would be any drama seeing as the cc's arent any bigger just the motor itself (tight squeeze) he will inspect it after its done i just have to make sure all the emmisions gear is on it and go from there
