5mge no spark or engine light

Ive just finished replacing the head on my 5mge and when I go to start the car it cranks but wont start. I checked the coil and it only sparks when the key is turned to off. I found this thread after searching toymods which seems to have a similar problem.

So i checked the ecu, fuses, and the lights on the dash (even switched with a working one) and the engine check light wont light up on reds. I bridged the T and E1 on the diag box in the engine bay but I still cant get the check light to show up.
any idea what could be wrong. I am assuming the coil is fine (because of getting the spark when the key is off) any ideas?

Did you reconnect all the earths properly?

Assuming it was working prior to the removal of the head....

yer all the earths have been reconnected, and it was running prior to removal but that was months ago. Any ideas of what I should be looking for? Why would the engine light not be coming on?

No power to ecu, no earth. Blown globe/fuse...

Could be loads of things
