5MGE Gen1 Engine + 5ME Loom + 5MGE ECU

OK so the MA61 im putting this 5MGE into , was originally 5ME.
The loom that was in the car was 5MGE also along with a 5MGE ECU, which causes issues when connecting to the dash (have to splice things)

I had a thought, could i put in my donor MA61 5ME loom so that the dash + engine loom is all standard and its plug and play ?

Or does 5ME loom not connect to the 5MGE engine (water temp / dizzy or something like that ?)

Please let me know asap!

Or at least let me know if i can use 5MGE engine + 5ME loom + 5MGE ecu (pinouts are same same)

loom is different - ECU does spark control for starters and the dizzi/ignitor setup is different. Also, other things (alt, alt light, dash water temp, etc.) are or are not integrated into the loom.

Being a 1983 early MA61/5MGE the looms look almost identical and the 5ME loom connects up to the ECU + dash correctly though ?!?

argh - missed the gen1 bit. If the gen1 5mge has the same dizzi and idle-control setup as the 5ME then it 'should' work. caution: having the same plugs doesn't mean zip if the hardware at the other end is different.
