    Default Cleaning 20V ISCV

I took this thing apart without noting the orientation of the little black plug - its underside has two recessed sectors; one smaller / one larger - that the rotating actuator can fit into < see photo > & I now don't know which way to orient it.

    Can anyone help?

Here's the only pic of the guts I've got.

I also have an unmolested one I'll probably take apart this weekend to clean out, I'll take more photos as I dismantle it.

Just opened it up then, here's how it goes together. If you align it as shown (note the red marks I made) and close it up 'like a book' so the red marks match, it will be aligned as per stock (well, as my untampered one was set anyway).

    Hope that helps.

Attachment 13652Attachment 13651Thanks Terra; I'm pretty sure that's how I put it back, if it doesn't idle that's the first thing I'll check. . .

PS: Now that I've got this thing as part of the Vacuum system, do I still need the original Idle Up Mechanism < see Photo > or can I ditch it?

If I do still need it, do I have to tap the two Idle-Up lines into the Vacuum Collector* or can I just run them to a Union behind / upstream of the butterfly on ITB # 4?

    * As you can see, I've already used up all the outlets - can I tap into the line coming from the Fuel Pressure Regulator by using two "Y" joins?

You still need the ISCV to control idle, as a vacuum reservoir wont do that.

If you connect the ISCV as per stock it will work as per stock, there are fittings for the connection of the ISCV, one on the stock airbox and one that plumbs in after the throttle bodies. I'm not sure what you're doing exactly, so I can't be any more specific than that.

Attachment 13658Running S/T ITBs on a Bigport 16V. Car is early JDM AE92. Street / Track use so keeping P/S, A/C. Using 20V ISCV so assume that AE92 Idle-Up mechanism can be discarded - but want to be 100% sure.

    Vacuum diagram attached. . .

You can use one or the other, I would use whatever is most compatible with the ECU you are running.

OK; that'd be the 20V unit then. The guy that supplied the harness+ECU recommended I use it - I just wasn't sure if the AE92 / 16V Version had any extra functions the 20V unit didn't.

PS: Re. P/Steer vacuum lines, how do you know which line is in/out (suck / blow) on the Pump? One line runs to Plenum and the other to the Vac Collector but I don't know which is which. . . . I guess I can wait till I fire it up & see what gives - if there's no assistance I'll just reverse them.

PPS: Re. Fuel Regulator; some people say to run vac line to Collector Box but on an AE111 FPR vac line just runs to riser on nearest ITB. Any thoughts on this?

PPPS: Re. Throttle opener. Is this unit necessary? (some people remove them when fitting Quads to 16Vs; mine is still in place.
If it is needed where would you run vac line from? OEM it runs to a VSV fed by a Vac Surge Tank < been advised that both can be removed when fitting Quads>

For the power steering (I assume you mean the two lines that run to the steering rack?) It doesn't matter which way around they are connected. It just opens a valve on full lock, allowing a bit of air through. I disconnected mine on my 4AGZE with no real effect on driveability.

For the FPR, run it to the vac box for optimum stability.

For the throttle opener, make it simple and remove it. Keep it though, just in case.
