Furthermore - found this link, talks about a relay to power the starter solenoid, makes sense but using the Std A340E NSS, do I need the relay?
Neutral Safey HowTo
What's the easiest way to add a neutral start switch to a car that doesn't have one currently?
My thinking was that you wire the starter wire off the ignition barrel through the saftey start switch and then to the solenoid, but that seems A) too simple and B) perhaps putting too much load on the neutral saftey switch.
Is this the right way to wire it? If not, what's the right way?

The way you described in your 1st post is generally how they come wired from the factory. I wouldn't be concerned about too much load on the NSS.
As for adding an extra relay before it goes to the starter solenoid, this is pretty common practice on older toyotas (NSS or not) where the contacts are worn in the ignition barrel making starting unreliable. You don't need to add the extra relay, if it works fine without it I wouldn't bother personally.
