So what's the going price for this GNX engine? Under $2000?
Easily available? Can get from just about any import wrecker?

With only 547 made, and current prices for complete 2nd hand cars ranging from US$20,000 to US$85,000.... i dont think it's very fair to compare that engine to the 1UZ-FE

I would also not consider a 547 models limitied run a "mass produced" car

Not bad for a buick tho. Still poo IMHO

1GGTE is relatively straight forward, though it will require a custom sump (or at least sump modifications).

13BT would also be a fairly easy fit
Must.... avoid.... urge... to... upgrade... parts I haven't.... used.... yet.....

spazworm...I think you have neglected to mention a few things about daniels fantastic V6 powered corona...

    1. it was built as a joke by daniel and steve becuase they got the car for free and they had a motor lying around
    2. it doesnt turn becuase the motor hits the steering rack after 3/4 of a turn
    3. the 3.8 is not only heavy becuase its cast iron, it sounds like a thrashed out hooker
    4. that car is a total and utter boonger and should be crushed (which I belive its going to be anyway)
    5. 125kw from a 3.8 is good? what about 206 (factory limited) from a 2.5?
    6. back to kindy with ye!

To be fair though, that car did some stonking burnouts...thats about all it was good for though

Why the hell would anyone want to put a V6 spewic motor into a Toyota? The thought did cross my mind in my 130 Rona but hey there a shit engine very under engineered compared to the engineering of a Toy motor.A stock standard 18RG can blow the doors off a stock Cupboard door.I even had a genuine 1966 RT40 Corona 1600S with a few extra mods from the factory that used to stick with the V6 Cupboard doors. If ya going to go any engine stick with Toyota.Compare factory Toyota power figures to GMH figures and I know what I'd be lookin at.At least Toyota brings out factory turbo'd and supercharged engines unlike GMH.My opinion TOYOTA all the way.Toy engines have always been very well engineered.
    Cheers Brett.

Um said buick motor came with both turbo and supercharged in different phases of it life

Holden is currently manufactury turbo motors for both saab and future alfa's so don't put your foot in it too deep

Or an XR6 Turbo motor - i cant believe ppl havent started using these in conversions yet...yes they are exxy, but ive heard of ppl making 380kw just by chipping them!! good luck doing that to a 1jz.

Speak to chris davey on here if you want a 1jz swap though. Im sure xt130 and rt142 would be similar in engine bay size/ configuration.

theres always the 7mgte or 2jzgte if you are adventurous.

depends if you want a 6 or a 4 - in a corona that big id suggest a 6 personally.

As for the 3.8L buick - yeah they go well in old cars and have good low down balls, however they are all getting tired unless you find a low km one out of a vx or something...

At the end of the day, do what YOU want. Not everyone on here will diss you if you put a commodore motor in your toyota - i know i wont. Hell, i put a ford v8 in an ma61!! (and copped abuse for it, however at the nationals this year i also got LOTS of positive feedback - which meant a lot to me)

    cheers blake

Yes thats true of them but most of this kind of stuff ends up overseas and we never see any off it.The only thing we seen in our own waters was the supercharged Commodore/Statesman.Even turbo'd VL's ran Jap engines. But then I spose when you do think about it who owns GMH?I know in the late 80's when Gmh was in the shit Toyota stepped in and owned about 70% of GMH not sure how much they own now if any.But I spose I've never been a Holden fan so I am a bit biased.
    Cheers Brett.

Im happy with my conversion, though if there was to be a next time I wouldnt mind trying a 3S maybe for a little bit batter balance. However the 1G was very straight forward so I would recomment it for first timers.
