Nope 165kw was carried in all Holden 5L's in VN, VP, and VR except of course the VN SS Group A which had 210kw. The when the vs came in they went to 168kw and the VT still the aussie motor had 179kw.

The HSV 5L had 180kw in the VN-VP, then with the VR or VS got upgraded to 185kw and in the VT's it got 195kw . PS norbie don't argue with me about the power output of Holden's
    If in doubt power out

I have to say, it was a pretty tired 5L. Something like 280k k's. Even the dyno operator was stunned.
I made a sarcastic comment that he must have worn out the cam, and the dyno guy said that it was actually fairly likely because they have pretty soft cams.
Still, that's not the point! The point is, it's barely better than a 1.6 twincam on 10psi

Needless to say, my disappointment at the mere 88kw was cured.
    Holden engines are somewhat tragic.
Stop being an elitist myne with all your talk of twincams, honda engines etc etc.

Those fuel injected 5L v8s can really be made to fly, fairly cheaply and easily. My brothers mates were into VN/VP V8s at one stage and all managed to get mid-high 12 sec quarter miles out of them on street tyres. And the noise of an angry v8........glorious! Who cares if it's pushrod/2 valve dinosaur tech.
you know what I mean this electric stream
and my tears in league with the
wires and energy and my machine
    this is my beautiful dream
