are u running the stock 4age dizzy? and are you still using the ecu to control ignition timing or going the no ecu route, the reason i ask is theres a few different ways around the carbie fed 4age setups
Hey everyone,
Im currently undertaking a 5K to carbied 4AGE engine swap. I'm wondering if its possible to use the existing bosch GT40 coil and wiring on the carbied 4AGE engine, just using a different lead from the coil to the dizzy. I'm not 100% how these work so thought id get some help from the proffesionals![]()
Im using the electronic external lift pump in the engine bay which the 5K was running, and think it should supply enough fuel. Any extra advice would be great. Thanks chaps!

Hey man, i'm unsure what dizzy is fitted, looks like 4AC or GE. It's got a spacer fitted, and has a vacuum advance, however it's not hooked up. Car runs no ecu, and was running previously in another ke
post pic of the dizzy. it is probably a K dizzy as there are spacers commonly available for them
why not put an elec dizzy and a HEI coil in there? the GT40's are shit.![]()

sounds like the dizzy has been changed to one with mechanical advance built in this is good because it allows you to get the advance curve you dont get with the stock dizzy without ecu
Vaccum advance is not a huge deal but id hook it up just so the timing advances under no load this helps raise cylinder pressure and get a good idle especially if its got bigger cams and also helps emissions.
as for the coil it depends what the dizzy is if its points you could wire as per normal and if its just a magnetic pick up you will need a module, bosch makes one for about $50 but i cant remember the number off the top of my head and you will need an electronic suitable coil, or if its a complete electronic dizzy id just change the coil
Points and electronic coils generally have different properties they may sometimes work but its not really recomended
sorry for the long winded reply.
Hi Guys , While you have your thinking caps on I was wanting to put a 4age big port with twin 40mm webers into a AE86 which at present is running a very tired 4ac. What is involved to make this happen. Sorry to hijack your thread 2dr-ftu , thought it would be better than starting another thread.
