GREAT dump tube! may I ask why is that flexible joint necesay there? Is because of the V-band adapter or is there relative movement between waste-gate and turbo?

Do you have pictures of the manifold too? I´m collecting ideas for my project.

Different expansion rates between the main pipe and the wastegate pipe as the wastegate isn't always open so can run a fair bit cooler....2 different expansion rates need some flex or it'll crack. Just a reliability feature

Dyno damage....looks like more work before we know what this beast will do. Hit 160rwkw at 4200rpm before we lost boost control......not sure exactly what the story is yet, have to pull the wastegate off. Hopefully just a sticky valve as design wise i can't see any major drama.

Popping hoses off as well so need to roll a bead into a couple of the inlet pipes.

It hit 24 psi with no det which is pretty impressive for a static comp ratio of 9:1

Nerdy Star Wars references aside, sounds like there's plenty of potential to be unlocked once the issues are sorted. The race is on to build the ultimate tractor engine!

Most impressive indeed. All the bits i need to suss are off so i'll start that this arvo. 1st port of call is the wastegate....i ordered a 9psi spring from memory. Also need to run a bead around some of the pipework as it would blow hoses off....ah the joys of modding

Any other thoughts, cheaper/more expensive and better comps? Do i buy new? etc

    Cheers

Problem found, just sorting a solution. Damn wastegate valve bush must have been drilled with a butter knife!! Clearance was way off so the boost feed just bled out of the chamber and waste gate no workie. New stainless bush on the way so should be right to go for some weekend mayhem.

That is a plug and play ECU to suit the RX-7. You will be better off getting one with the wiring loom etc, not a plug and play - unless it is to suit your application (ie 18RGTE does not exist).

You should be able to pick one up for ~$500.

    thanks yellow roller,

im just waiting on the turbo now, its a hybrid like justins but its only going o a 2.2L and a log style manifold identical to the one on the first page, so it will be interesting to see how it pans out. Next stop injectors and ems.

I cannot comment on the 550's at all. With regards to the 650cc - are they the ones with the dual nozzle holes? If so, then they're definitely not cool for the application, they tend to spray 2 nice streams and offer nothing in terms of atomisation. They rely on the stream hitting the valve guide to atomise the fuel.

not sure, i'll double check, what are the basics they i should be looking for in a sidefed injector? just one nozzle that sprays in a circular pattern?

You will want a top feed injector. Look for good atomisation and not too great a spread, if it spreads too much it, feul will tend to settle on the walls of the port.
