The grunter is dead, long live the grunter

Dunno the exact story but sure as eggs the guy driving the car 20km with a knocking big end didn't help things. He assures me he has been babying the car even though it has the spiking wastegate? Tells me it now sounds like an engine full of rocks...err stop turning it over

Anyways, his funds have dried up so will be some time before we get to see the potential of the big block as may as well do it with forgies for the rebuild.

Anyone got a ready to run shortblock to get this guy outta trouble?

Might do, if the bore is in decent shape and will sneak thru with just a hone? Just need to chase up a stray piston?

I'm afraid that with the new bub to contend with my time is very limited so while i'm happy to help the young fella out alot of the sorting will have to be up to him.

I've got a spare unused rg block 1.5mm over sized. It has been o'ringed and comes with a brand new set of 18rc pistons sorry not forged.

Kinda. Right at the start it was a proj engine for me but after Dubbo it sold pretty quick. So, yes as it currently stands it is dead and no more ....hopefully can be resurrected in 2 litre form asap. The way the big TO4 spooled on the 2.4 it will be liveable with just 2 litres.

Need to pull the engine down to suss what may have happened as i'm assured that over enthusiasm wasn't the cause

I would very much like to know what went wrong with that engine before I put my hybrid together, after all, it was pretty much based on your's.

    Cheers.

    Steve M

Where abouts in sa are you? Ive just started getting stuck right into my build (now that exams have finished). There's a million things we can talk about (what tuner have you gone with in sa etc etc), are you coming along to the workshop party on the 25th? We should catch up then.

Don't stress it Steve, this engine ran strong for 6 months no probs with a T28 turbo setup. Nothing wrong with the basic engineering.

We have had issues with wastegate control since installing the big TO4 with it spiking to 20+psi, so as the young fella kept driving it........

Tries to PM you mate but your mailbox is full. So,

    Hiya,
Sounds interesting. Are the 18RC pistons flat top? i don't think they will work with the RG head otherwise?

What sort of dollars are you chasing?
