I was in the same boat, looking at options to do my 1J right and do it once, so I emailed the guys at GCG. I want 250-300 RWKW (reliable) for circuit racing. I specified linear power delivery to minimise stress on driveline and keep it reasonable to drive.

They came back with GT3076R with the .82 housing. Next best would be the GT3582R with more head room for power, but a fair bit less response. They seem to think it would work fine in a circuit car, though you might head into needing a higher redline and perhaps a built motor.

Note that its a VVTi motor in that vid.

Wonder what "boost 1.0 - 1.4K" means? I assume Bar?

Looks like being pig rich too if i'm reading the right field on the dyno screen, 9.8 - 10.0:1 AFR

.7 rear ar on a t4 footprint should give a bit of lag but horn top end.

Just tuned my non VVTi 1JZ last night on the dyno, having swapped from a GT3076 to GT3582.

Despite not being able to rev past 6000rpm, still made clear of 300wkw at 19-20psi, on 98RON pump fuel, through an auto box. Previous repeatable result with the GT3076 was 260wkw @ 20psi

BTW: any intahwebs claims stating that the 3076 and 3582 have similar response, but more headroom for peak power with the 3582 are utter bullshit, the difference in response/lag is marked, i'll have to do a dyno chart overlay to show the difference, but the lack of low down torque with the 3582 is wwwaaaaay noticeable on the street.

300+ neddies does get a Corolla moving along quite nicely once its on-song though

    Cheers

I'll have to data log it to see the difference in numbers. I think i've only got comparative figures for the old 3076 at 20psi though, not 1 bar.

I reckon this setup would be lucky to have 1 bar at 4000rpm though.

Interestingly, it still makes a healthy 248wkw at only 12psi, so the turbo is efficient across a decent pressure ratio range.

the 1 bar was just a figure you could use 20 psi

thats good power for 12 imperial units of pressure

Precision 6262 billet would be good. Very nice turbos and very cheap with the $ as it is. You can get plain bearing really cheap.

Won't be for a while though, had some killer bills yesterday, plus the car is getting wired up as we speak, my auto leccy called me the other day and said he needs a progress payment so figures he has some work to do fixing all of the dodgey shit. Should have some dyno pulls in a couple of weeks!
