one of the triumph tr3's had the centre ripped out as it was a steel wheel running slicks and there is an inherent design fault in them ,
so they put a blanket ban on them
steel wheels with radials are permitted though

So you can still run a steel wheel with say a Toyo r888?

With a Steel Wheel, the centre in held on by 5 welds in general. Nice fast corner means high loads being applied the wheel centre, and race tyres keep the tyre in place suitably well.

All this means much higher likelihood that the forces will break the welds whilst in a fast bend... Which is exactly what happened in years previous.

So does that mean I could run steel rims with my Federal 595 RS-R's? I've got a set of Konig Rewinds that I was planning to sell but thought I had to use them at Winton instead of steel wheels.

I'll probably just use the Konig's anyway provided they fit on the Corolla.

We will be going into this years event with a totally new line up except for me and Steve and a couple of helpers, just a group of people (like yourselves) out to have a good time, 3 new drivers and quite a few new helpers. The Team is already set.

We are paid up entrants of the Wakefield park 6 Hour in July and the Phillip Island 6 Hour in August, we will just have to wait for the AROCA one to open and we will be in that one too, and that will be the only 3 events for Steve and me this year, too bloody expensive.
