Default Auto box compatibility - 1J into 4Runner

I'm about to begin my 1J into 4Runner engine conversion soon and am weighing up gearbox / trans options.

Just wanting to know if the surf auto would be compatible electrically with a 1J ecu.. As I've heard there might be issues

Has anyone here done the 1J conversion with their 4x4 and used an auto trans?
Is it possible to install the transfer case onto the 1J auto?

It would be nice to just use an R series manual but there's alot of cost involved there compared with using an auto & I'm on as tight a budget as I can manage

    Any ideas or help appreciated!

I feel sorry for people who think cars are simply for getting from A to B
