what clear oil to use in boost guage?

just found out I got a liquid filled boost guage but most of the damper oil in the guage has leaked out.

I was wondering if I am going to refill the damper oil, what type of oil i can use? Has any one done it before?

yeah I just found out cooking Glycerine in supermarket can be use :-)

another thing is, it is a 0-35psi boost guage. which means no vacuum reading. If I am going to use it in a normal conventional turbo gasoline engine, will the vacuum at idling/no boost will destroy the mechanical in the boost guage?

no, it just wont show anything till you hit positive manifold pressure

If your worried about damaging the gauge with vacuum, just plumb it into the piping before the throttle instead of in the manifold. That way there won't be any vacuum anyway.
