    Default Hybrid Boost Controller Installation

    Ey all,

I recently acquired a Hybrid EBC, for basically nothing (thanx jorrs), there was a catch though , there is no wiring diagram with it, and I’ve had no luck finding anything on the net about it except for a picture and the specs...

These are the specs I found on the site too (tired to remove the engrish):
Designed for any car with and without map sensor. Added "Over boost function" You not only have in cabin adjustments for high boost and low boost setting but also you can wire up to an external switch for adding 10% more boost , that means 3 settings.
Easy fitting and installation just +, - and signal very compact in size so u can install it virtually anywhere you want in Cabin. This popular product is the result of constant refinement on the street and track. Hybrid full electronic boost controller not only spools up the turbo quicker but also regulates the boost accurately. The boost controller kit comes with all the parts you need to install.

NEW HYBRID FULLY ELECTRONIC BOOST CONTROLLER
    FULLY ELECTRONIC MCU CONTROLLED
    ACCURATE BOOST REGULATION
    HI/LOW BOOST SETTINGS
    IN CAR ADJUSTMENT
    OVER BOOST FUNCTION
    120PSI USA PRESSURE EQUALISED SOLENOID
    CONTROLS INTERNAL/EXTERNAL WASTEGATE
    OPEN/CLOSE LOOP

So it can indeed do everything I want, but as I said earlier, I have no wiring diagram....

Not letting that stop me, I ripped the top off the unit and too my surprise the pads on the PCB were labeled, which has helped so far.

Ideally I'd love someone to pipe up with the official wiring diagram, but I doubt I'll be so lucky. So this is what I have so far:

    PLUG 1
RED = Labled "+12v" on PCB (I think this may be the acc, but when 12v is applied the unit fires up)
ORANGE = Labled "com" on the PCB (not sure what it is, has 0v on it, but its not a GND)
YELLOW = Labled "5v Out" on PCB (has 5v to gnd when EBC is on, connected to pins 3,4,14 of the PIC micro on PCB)
    GREEN = GND
PURPLE = Not labled (its connected to pin 9 of the PIC micro on the PCB)
GREY = Labled "SW1" on PCB, I'm assuming overboost SW (Connected to pin 2 on PIC, has 5v to GND on it)

    PLUG 2
BROWN = Labled "SOL" on PCB (Goes to solanoid, always has 12v on it)
WHITE = Labled "SOL" on PCB (Goes to solanoid, always has 12v on it)

That’s all I have at the moment, I should ask though, what usually needs to be connected to an EBC?

Sorry for the slab of info but I hope someone can help me work it out...

    Cheers

Just playing around with it then, Ive confirmed that the solanoid actually works (just put 12v on it), but im still struggling to work out what the purple and orange wires do...

Does it have a scramble function? My AVCR has purple and orange... neither of them needed to be hooked up as i wasn't going to use an external scramble button with you unit

    Just read this...

"you can wire up to an external switch for adding 10% more boost , that means 3 settings."

    That'd be it!

Yeah that probly sounds right danners.

It also says "Easy fitting and installation just +, - and signal "...
I got postive, and I got minus, but signal? I wonder if that means the connections to the solanoid?

Try looking up the installation manual for an AVCR, they seem very similar

I have the diagram. I'll check it tonight and let you know 100%. But the 2 spare wires from memory one is definately overboost while the other i cannot remember.

On a side note, I still havent been able to get mine to work.. I think I was given a dodgy controller (it wont boost past 4psi) the actuator is working its just set a default of 4psi and the controller doesnt do anything!

And a TIP! The snap-connectors between the controller and the unit are dodgy as fuck. They actually loose connection if you shake them. Im eventually going to solder mine but I want to make sure the unit is the problem first.

    EDIT::

Wiring Install guide for Hyrbrid Boost Controller.

    RED (IG+)
ORANGE (boost sensor / map signal)
BLUE (ext switch) (overboost switch loop)
    GREEN (earth)
PURPLE (ext switch) (overboost switch loop)

Yeah... I think I will be getting a better quality EBC soon..., this one doesn’t seem to work correctly, I hooked it all up, but I left the solenoid in the cabin, it didn't change state once... Possibly wrong connections...

I will investigate a bit more, but I got it for nothing so meh... might have to spend some cash...

Thanx once again for the help though
