Default HELP Microtech LTX12S into 1JZ Problems

    Hi Guys,

I have been searching all over the place trying to find information on this error I am getting but have been unsuccessful so in a last pitch effort I have come to you guys.

I currently have a Microtech LTX12S ecu wired into a 1JZ Cressida. I have run a complete new wiring loom for the new ECU install (which has been checked and triple checked by myself, a friend who works with these, and another friend ( piggy who has installed one himself).

The current problem is when I try to start the car I am getting a REF and RPM error showing up on the Microtech dash. The car seems to start by dies out.
Also while cranking I noticed that the RPM shows 250rpm but then drops to 0rpm and then backup again, I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
Another interesting note is when the car is turned off, 2-3 of the LED lights on the dash stay slightly illuminated which I found very strange.

I believe that the Crank Angle Sensor and Cam Sensor(rear one) are fine as I ran my setup on the stock 1JZ ecu just before wiring in the Microtech.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Brendan

From my experience with JZ motors and microtechs they tell you to put the cam sensor on the middle one... (dont know the reasoning but its whats been in the wiring diagrams for me and what others have said)

it sounds similar to the problem i encountered with my latest install however sounds like you might have it worse than i do...

mine ended up being the Crank sensor wires were back to front... but by the sounds of it if it wont start and idle you might have the cam sensor wires round the wrong way also...

I have tried wiring the crank sensor the other way around and still have the same problem but I will try wiring the cam sensor around the other way also and try all combos just to cut it out of the equation, although I'm pretty sure I tried both ways but that said, my ecu had been playing up before,(tuners wiped the tune when I lent it to a mate).
    Cheers.

Well sorted it out, turns out it was the CAM sensor, my microtech wiring diagram had the wires around the wrong way. Car now runs so she will be off to the tuner shortly

^ ^ v common problem, I had the same issue (mentioned in the linked thread, above).

Microtech have the wiring the wrong way around, which is REALLY annoying when you've checked and double checked.

Yeah tell me about it, I had changed the crank around and tested that previously to no avail and I had originally changed my CAM sensor wires around when testing but that was before I realised that the tuner had accidently wiped my ECU clean so it didn't occur to me because of that but its all good now

Oh also I had my fuel pump wired to my Tach output had pulled the fuel pump wire off to move it and accidently pulled the tacho one off instead and used that, was interesting watching the fuel pressure reg go up and down as I was trying to crank the car hehe.
