I have used Aisat Instruments in Welshpool with good results, however simply replacing your spedometer will be your cheapest option.
Speedo on the AW11 has finally decided it doesn't want to read correctly, and i suspect its a gearing issue inside the speedo itself (not the usual sender issue)
Has anyone with an older car (i'm hoping some of the guys with restorations might be able to help me here) had a stock speedo/tacho/cluster reconditioned, and some idea of cost would be good. Worst case i'll get a GPS in the meantime (bleh) But otherwise i'll start looking at aftermarket options.
Thanks

There is no substitute for PUBIC inches
Never late in an x8
Clint - Toyota don't make them, and i have a spare one (with a broken odo) that i'm gonna use in the meantime. I rang big rock, and the very nice people in parts put me on to AISAT as well, so i've dropped it off, and hopefully they can get her working properly again.
Was also looking at replacing the speedo cable too, until i got the quote from toyota o_O
For the price, i'd want a new speedo with it. Or Free Fitting. heh![]()
Hmmmmmmmm, I can get a used speedo.... US market, would that be of any benefit?
Information is POWER... learn the facts!!
No, at the moment i'm going with reconditioning, but thank you very much for your offer. If it fails again, i'll probably look at an electronic aftermarket solution.
we have a guy that does them, ill give him a call and let you know.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
The company i dropped the speedo off too called me half an hour before closing to say it was ready to pick up (ugh it's a 30min trip when it ISN'T peak hour...why call so late in the day) so hopefully have it back in late next week, when i'm done with work. Cost was ~$100.
it's weird the japanese 180kmh speedo gets really inaccurate above about 80kmh, reads quite high (about 10kmh above at 100kmh)
