If he doesn't know what he's doing with a microtech, it's definitely time to find a different (competent) tuner

And on the topic of power, the 7AGE we built (very basic, standard head/cams etc) made a touch over 100rwhp on the standard bigport 4AGE ecu.

    +1 for new tuner.

70XIN do you have a build link for the 7age? Just wondering what injectors you used with the stock ecu..

    http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/fo...s-Coupe/page22

And it uses stock 4age injectors, stock ecu, sensors etc etc.

instead of making a new thread i thought i'd bring my old thread back up.

i just remembered that the tuner said i had 40deg of timing. I didn't actually know what this meant at the time but i just read about it and that doesn't sound right to me. um not sure if this is normal with 7age's or am i losing power because of this and now i'm thinking ajustable cam gears would help alot.

    anyone have any ideas????

That's huge amount of timing , mines tuned to 23 max advanced with compensations galor. It's still a 4a though. If you care about ur car take it to another tuner and get a second opinion or tune

By '40 degrees' your tuner must be referring to ignition timing, not cam timing. That said, 40 degrees is huge, the basic 7AGE i built was pinging with anything past 16..

And yes, adjustable cam gears are a MUST for a 7A, i am suprised yours even runs haha.

yer lol from what i read i can't believe it is still runing, going to have to pay the money to get it looked at. just didn't want to pay 600 and have no gain or anything.

That would be 40deg total advance, not the base timing. I would have expected it to be running something in the 30's in the top end. Easy enough to check by connecting to the ECU and downloading the map.

Might also be worth checking that there's no timing offset between the ECU and the engine. Use the timing lock in the ECU software to lock the ignition advance and then check that the engine is running the same timing with a light.
