btw.. ignitor is usually under the coil.. which looks like abit of a heat sink... looks in that pic that its on the passenger side strut tower near your air flow meter
sounds like it could of surged thru the igniter... checky checky my friend ive heard of ignitors shutting down injectors when there is no spark so the motor doesnt flood

Yeah that makes sense, i was thinking to myself before 'ive cranked this engine abit so wouldnt it be filling with fuel, but theres no fuel smell?'. Hence the injectors are off because of no spark like old matey said before.
Yep i found the sucker, Good old google images!. Maybe it is this little bastard, i hope so, i makes abit of sense..
Any idea on how to test it if possible?.. There should there be power going to it aswell right?

would be easier just to try another one.. or id imagine there would be a resistance test in the workshop manual to test if the unit and internal circuits are working.... (which i dont have sorry lol)
must of just somehow cop'd a surge of power and fried it.. or its just a conicedence... eh who knows, try see if a second hand unit fixes the problem first..
also, while your working on your car see if you can cross the TE1 and E1 pins in the diagnostic port plug in the engine bay and see what (if any) the engine light flashes
The computer does control the spark, but it waits for confirmation from the ignitor that ignition occurs for it to continue pulsing the injectors.
Some ignition checks in this pdf dood.

'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!
There is one 20amp fuse in the L/H kick

I just changed the igniter and it still doesnt run. Still No Spark.
Is there ment to be power to the dizzy?

nah there is no power to dizzy. It has four wires which go to the computer, ones an earth and the other three are signal wires. (These are generated in the dizzy itself).
If your certain the replacement ignitor is serviceable and the coil is powered then i would assume the computer is not sending the signals to the ignitor to tell it to spark. Which suggests to me the dizzy may not be working, you can check the resistance between the terminals and make sure none are open or short circuit. Further test would require a scope or spare.
PS. How have you tested fuses and fusible links etc? (I know its been asked several times but I haven't seen a response. I only ask because I have had fuses which look fine but didn't conduct).

Only test fuses with a test light or multimeter. Eye-test fails unless they've had a lot of juice go through them.
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.
as far as im aware.. the ignitor accepts an input from the ecu, which is told what to do by either a cam or crank angle sensor or both..... so if your ignitor isnt powering up.. id say checking power and earths to the ecu.. or trying another one....
sorry to say.. i hope im wrong tho!
Thanks for your help guys, Ive learnt a few things i didnt know a couple of weeks ago after playing around with my car in the shed.
It turns out it was a snapped timing belt![]()
