i dont think its nesacery as long as you have a nice free flowing exhaust.
stock dumps kill ct12a's. thats the problem with the stock setup and over boosting.

For cams. A smaller exhaust cam to the inlet will aid in spool, but will hinder up top.
300RWKW on stockies.
I'd say it's 100% acheivable, how long the stockies last, is a totally different question.
I'd be looking to get the inlet charge as cold as possible. To the point of cooling the turbos themselves down with something damn cold. (C2O setup on the turbos?)
Although, that'd only be drag useful.
Maybe look at doing a full W-2-A setup along the WHOLE inlet piping, and setup something like your air con to be cooling the water (Instead of inside)
To pick up other power as well, remove things like P/S pump, hydro fan (if you have one) and anything else not needed.

Heat, RPM, and Time kill turbos.Originally Posted by jak
Generally you can have one or two, and not kill them, build up all 3, and you're gone.
Stock dumps would be restrictive, trapping in heat, for long periods of time.
To make 18PSi is high RPM (Probably higher then with a free flowing exhaust)
And as such, they die.
Try spinning to 25PSi, you're at extremely high RPM, with alot of heat (out of efficiency) and depending how long you stay on it, depends on time.
Keeping shit cool is an easy way to succes.
Plus, 25PSi at 150degrees, is a fair bit less oxygen at 25PSi at 30degrees with the same volume.
yea, the stock dumps trap heat like a bitch.
i should know, i run 25psi.
and we dont run any unusual cooling devices. we daily drive them on 19psi and have been doing so for 1.5 years. u wont get them above 22psi without nitrous. we can see 22 without nos and all is fine.

As in, they won't flow it. At full tilt, wastegate closed, they won't boost over 22PSi
Or they're just not making any more power?
If just not making more power, start by cooling the turbo itself down...
no, it wont physically create more boost. urbos are maxxed out.
i know what your sayin about keepin em cool, if we get them to make more boost with more nos, the nos is the cooling effect, but if u bore and stroke it (unlikely but anyway) your going to have to keep them cool to take advantage of the extra boost, otherwise it will just be heat.

Hrm...
See, I've never heard of the CT12As limiting themselves.
I know the turbos on the 1G-GTE will do it...
Does it still limit boost with new manifolds as well as dump?
dont know about manifolds. we run the complete stock setup.
all turbos have a limit. and the ct12a's dont go above 22-23psi without nos.

UpdaTes?![]()
JZA70|R / 12.45 @ 111 mph.
300rwkw on stockies .... lmao.
It's like reading a Martin Donnon article.
he did 250rwkw which is about 5kw more than me![]()
JZA70|R / 12.45 @ 111 mph.
258rwkw's @ 18psi IIRC.
that was with the hks EBC (faulty valve) he should really get it tuned / dynoed again with the PFC BC in after his car comes back from paint
make sure he doesnt slack off. i want to see some results!!!
JZA70|R / 12.45 @ 111 mph.
i think hes gonna ditch the stockies for some disco pots, but thats an idea in the head i guess.
