as one who has done headwork on a 1j, i can tell you there is not enough difference to make it worth while.

Cams are really only good if you are using a single. Cam gears are a good investment for the twins.

300kw on the stocko's, without nos i think is not on the cards.

the highes power one i can find is in the US, 240sx, 468HP, but as we all know, american dynos read higher than australian dynos

we put out 301rwkw with like a 130-150 shot of gas.

If you are using nitrous, the stock turbos are not going to do much past 25psi, and the only way to get power out of the engine is with more nos or racing fuel.

we are thinking about going direct port nitrous, and maybe trying cams, but we are very skeptical at this stage as we are not hearing amny good power increases out of them.

back to the head, we did headwork on our 1j, and quite frankly, it did nothing. I think u would need oversize valves for it to do anything, because if u cant get the air in and out fast enough, what is the point of extra flow in the ports.

To chase 300kw out of stock turbos and street use isnt really practical imo.

dont get me wrong, i would love to see you chuck a set of cams in it and see how it goes

also, noob question, but what does bpu mean?

    Cheers

Its really nice hearing and seeing people that have poured lots of time and money into their projects, pass on their knowledge to others a few steps back from them. Thanks Jak.

JAK What head work have you had done? I'm interested to know. Also what PSI etc? your more then welcome to PM if you'd like to keep it private

There is a thread kicking around on here where I was discussing what I was going to attempt to do BUT heres the basic rundown:

Lower compression through ported CC adn slightly thicker MHG.
Port matched. Ported exhaust manis. Custom intake, obviously ported.
1.5mm oversized intake valves, intake ported to suit.
    Uprated valve springs.
264 cam sticks with 9.3mm lift.

Realisticly the lift is going to give the most benefit. the rest is penny pinching a few HP here and there at best. No NOS, I'd like but I'd rather upgrade the turbos before giggle gas. That and the missus says 'no'

Incase your interested I'm at about 255ish rwkw with a safe tune at 18pis. the extra 40 odd kw out of head work is a bit of a stretch I know but its probably worth a shot. That and I *MIGHT* wind the stockies up to 20 to see if that cracks it! My turbos are currently in FKN awesome condition, so they should be able to handle the extra psi for a lil bit.

You are the smartest 14/15 year old in Australia

    Top shit bro.

Requiem: 40rwkw is a huge ask out of head work alone. You could try it if you want but if in the end all it gets you is bragging right then personally I don't think it is worth it.

On a side note it runs the getrag 6 speed and easily pulls 100 kph in second gear

anyways, Requiem, whats happening with your bump sticks?

are you getting any? the only thing stopping me is fucking shipping!!! going for HKS 272 for in and exh, apparently they're the best between torque and power.

Nope no love sticks yet. Low on supra spending funds atm. When I do I'll be getting some Juns in.

BTW I'm not sure who's been telling you what but I think you'll find that its a bit more complex then HP V Torque on the cams. The 272's are gonna move your power band up further and make it feel more laggy. Especialy on stockies, which your still on atm yeah? If you wanna have more of a yap, talk to me on MSN tonight man

id like to see that on paper. although i think it would be fairly close to it as its got a manual.

from what i understand 264's would be more ideal for the 1J than 272's.

When i eventually go cams ill be going 256 in and 264 exh.

Nice to see things still progressing Requiem

I'm currently getting my 1jz soarer tuned with big sticks (they are crower sticks about the same specs as HKS 264's). Currently is making around 250rwkw on 13psi which is up about 20-25rwkw on the same boost without sticks. The cross over point is around 4000rpm, and they rev all the way to 7000rpm. This figure is only on 98 ron fuel at the moment, so long way to go before i'll see what they'll make.
