How does it goes with angle though?
It kind of looks more than 11 degrees to my eye.
In a way its really good that the bellhousing has a built in lean/tilt to it as this compensates for the problem I was having.. I am thinking it means I can use a standard adapter plate without any changes necessary.
Just want Ed to clarify that all?

Eye may be deceiving.. This bellhousing pretty much would make the gearbox sit perfectly flat.. I needed to rotate box 11 deg, this does pretty much exactly that, give or take 1 deg which is acceptable to me![]()
Did you need to rotate the gearbox because of the other bellhousing?
ie, engine is flat, gbox is flat, you need a bellhousing thats flat (which this is not)
And Callum, yes, the UZS131 engine was on a tilt so that the drivers side headers would clear the steering box. So the bellhousing was rotated X degrees to keep the gbox flat. (the engine sump was also not level with the engine, as wasn't the pickup)

Hmm, so depending on the angle of the U1 to U2 an off the shelf adaptor may work if a tilt is needed (presuming it went the right way of course).

If engine is flat and gearbox is flat i need bellhousing that has a 10 or so degree offset beteeen gearbox face and block face. The 3vz does exactly this. So off shelf adapter should be fine except it needs to be 25mm thick. Not the standard 10mm.
I'm going to have to have another look at the 1MZ (been disregarded since I've put the 3S back in), because the 3S block/gearbox mountings are symmetrical & straight when the engine is vertical.
Again might be down to the 3S & 1MZ sharing bellhousings, but the V6 sits straighter in the FWD engine bay.
haha, glad i didnt modify that adapter last night! i got *this* close too, and decided to do it today, glad i looked here first!
so is the 'counter tilit' of that bellhousing youve got absolutly perfevt? you dont want me to chuck in an extra degree here or there? just leave as is?
ps, got your paypal thing, cheers! (and yep, club gets kickbacks from sales too!) soa ll good
cheers

Nah man just leave as.. Worst case is going to be 1 deg off which i'm not concerned about at all.
Just got to confirm thickness, 25mm sound right? So would make out of alloy yeah?
Would the shoulder work be required?
shoulder is better, but if you want you can easily just dowel some of the holes into the bellhousing (the gearbox is doweled already)
ill email you the stuff now
cheers

Not if you consider that Toyota are trying to standardise parts.
if you think about an east-west config with FWD, the bellhousing puts the gearbox level whilst tilting the engine over to fit into the bay.
The 5VZ in the Prado (was the 5VZ available in anything else) may have the block made such that bolt spacings are not horizontal but then "straighten" the motor up.
I'm starting to get confused by all this. Really need to see the stuff in person
Anyway, if it works for you, go for it![]()
Ahh cool, 9 deg that is ok.. Means I may have 2 deg lean on gearbox which i'm still ok with.
