    Default 1jz starter wiring question

    hey all

as usual ive got a 1jz in a mz20, and ive had a limp starter for a while. unless the battery has 13.9 or so volts i havnt been able to start the car recently

my starter use to have fryed contacts so they have been replaced, ive installed a booster
on there before i fixed the contacts and it was a temp fix but it got a little lazy after a while,

now what im getting at is the other day i pulled it all apart and re-did the wiring and fitted a brand spanking new relay, still did the same thing, however i have a seperate fuse box around my ABS and if i tap the wire run from the starter to one of the termnials it will start and turn over no problems, so i removed the booster relay and she alot stronger of a start now but still needs to be over 12.5v or so, but once again if i remove the wire and run it to the fuse box again (runs directly from the main line to the fuse box) she will start no issues, and thats at around 11v

i tested the system and im getting around 1-2v lower on crank compaired to the battery voltage

what im curious about is, can i run a totally new wire from the ignition barrel to the starter to supply fresh power or is it a problem before the barrel. ie old wiring etc

im just over fiddling with relays that dont work and what not

    cheers

It sounds like a voltage drop in your trigger wire has it got it's own starter relay in the fuse box?? If so check the voltage coming out of the relay is efficiant enough or even the wire coming out of the barrell to the starter relay has efficiant voltage(could be a dodgy ignition switch).

If ignition switch is ok run a seperate wire and again hook up a fresh relay and it'll be fine, unfortunately you need to run a relay just to give it full voltage theres no way around it sorry dude..

    another quick question,

i just remembered that im using a smaller gauge wire between the body and the engine loom, would that be where ive screwed up? its about a 3mm wire between the body loom to the plug, where the engine looms meets the plug the wire is about 5-6mm

im going to replace it today and find out but man i feel stupid if thats what the issue is
